I'd just like to point out that David Blitzer, the owner of the Guardians, has a net worth of 1.3 billion dollars. He could spend a ton more on his team but chooses not to. He has an excellent team, but maybe the Guardians fans should be asking themselves "what if" they actually spent more on their team, maybe they would have won this series.

I always answer honestly, I don’t troll. Will I sometimes disagree with a poster on an opinion, sure I will. But I also give my reasoning when I do.
During the late 90’- early 2000’s run, my company had great Yankee seats right behind the visitor dugout. I may have attended 50-100 regular season games during those years and always got in 1 WS game and mult playoff games each year as well.
So, like I said, outside of head to head, I always prefer a local team win it all. But over the past couple years, a couple of guys in here almost make me want the Yanks to lose. Almost- but I still prefer the Yanks over anyone else left.
So explain this, and I'm clueless? Clearly I know the reason for the chant, the whole rocking the baby HR trot backfired and lit a fire under the Yankees, but maybe a payback for those beachers bums throwing garbage at this same team earlier in the year? A nice optic nationally for those great engaged fans, were you in that crowd or working tables in your outfit? 😎 But hey, what do I know, you have all the answers. Fact is you tried to sell it as if it never happened, so I provided the short video. I know you said your restaurant has several TV's while you serve, so maybe you should tell Hooters management to turn up the sound so you can watch and hear the game, lol. I look at Clev in two ways- yes, they have a super low payroll. Let's call in under 100 mil.
All other playoff teams are in the $140 mil plus. Teams still in it, $200 mil +
But, Cleveland made some very good moves that allowed them to stay low on budget but also have talent. The Lindor trade worked for both teams- Met's could afford him and Carrasco- and at least Lindor will be a great get for them when all is said and done. But, Clev got Rosario and Gimenez. Both were cheap and under control. But both were major parts of their successful season- and they have a lot of young talent. So, they are doing something right, organically.
He shouldn't have even been on the playoff roster. His skills have seriously diminished. He can't hit and he's often looked slow and lost in left field. The Yankees will be paying him $10 million for each of the next three seasons. And he'll be on the golf course.
Not Cashman's best signing.

DJ has a fractured foot - took batting practice and feedback was that his injury still compromised his play
Marinaccio has a stress fracture in his shin - if this is not fully healed - likely there is a risk of over-compensation and potential longer term arm issues.
Lutege - my guess is he is not on due to relative inneffectiveness in recent outings. If you look at his splits - he has given up 11 hits in his last 5 appearances over 4 2/3 innings. They likely also need guys who go longer as a contingency due to the extended Guardians series. Lutege is pretty much only good for 1 or 2 lefty batters at this point.
Gonzalez - sucks - they already have Cabrera to be in the multi-position role. Peraza is a better SS and probably has much higher potential at bat.
Castro and Montas are head scratchers for me
I never understod the Montas trade. Who thought he was gonna be the Yanks #2 starter and was better than Severino or Cole ?
I don't see a spot in the rotation for him next year either.
I also think they'll eventually regret giving up on Waldichuk.

I liked the trade. As good as the first half of the season was, it always seemed predicated on too many pitchers having all-time best stretches and begging to fall back down to earth (or disappear with injury). And they did. A little shoring up seemed necessary. Would have loved Castillo, of course, but Montas was one of the only other decent options.
I think he'll find a spot. If not, maybe RU can relate the advantages of the multi-starter strategy 🤪
This is the biggest underdog the Yankees have been in the playoffs since the 1976 World Series against the Big Red Machine.

My memory could be off but I recall not being given much of a chance by many in 1996 against the Smoltz/Maddux/Glavine starting pitching of the Braves. Especially after losing the 1st 2 games
Oh I’m sure we were dogs in 96 to that Braves team, but from what I heard today, this team is a longer shot against Houston.

I agree with this. However, one would wonder how a bat with some pop would have helped out during this series. The bottom of the lineup is pretty weak. The true test will be if they retain these guys when they get expensive or will they pull a Moneyball and try to reload by trading them.
