There are barely any fights anymore so if that’s your point then fine. All I can say is watch the slow-mo replays and if grown men actually wanted to fight and punch each other’s lights out they wouldn’t miss 100% of the punches thrown and at least one of the six fighters would have a scratch. It was absurd. I’ve seen better fights in the stands at MSG. It was theater but we can agree to disagree.
Really? Grown men are so angry about the national anthem, challenge each other to fight, and then flail furiously missing every punch.
Everyone here that knows hockey is telling you that you're completely wrong. If this was fake, then they are much better actors than the professional wrestlers that get paid to fake fights. Even if there was some sort of ridiculous conspiracy where the NHL told these players they have to open the game with a few fights, which is completely absurd to begin with, these guys have been in plenty of real fights, why would they need to fake it now?
You just described almost every fight in hockey. They're on skates on ice not in sneakers on pavement, even for the best skilled skaters it's tough to keep their balance. Yeah, the WNBA put up better numbers when Clark was playing other than that, no one watches.
You are just embarrassing yourself in this thread, especially with your initial claim that you watch a lot of hockey.
The vast majority of hockey fights cause no damage, because they start with both guys having a helmet/shield on their head, and the loose sweater allows the opponent to at least partially restrict the other guy’s arm movement and keep him from throwing effective punches.
Fights between the small number of players who have fighting as a larger part of their game, like a Ryan Reaves, are more likely to have a real punch connect. Or, the Rangers recent tough guy Matt Rempe who has a lot of will to fight but has taken more good punches than he has given because more experienced guys know how to tie his punching arm up.

There are probably 10x or 100x young soccer players compared to young hockey players. But yes, there are international opportunities for the best young soccer players - both for their youth national teams and clubs.
For example, the Dallas Cup is a huge youth soccer tournament with clubs sending teams from Europe and Latin America.
Looking forward to tomorrow night but have a feeling Canada will win. It's hard to win 2 in a short series. Things usually even out when the teams are close talent wise. Need a huge night from Hellebuyck.
It seems USA's attempt to exert their will physically may have back fired.
But need to see who shows up tomorrow, and if USA continues on with this overly physical style of play.
We will still likely have a huge edge in goal tending.
