But then you also have Joey Gallo, too many pitchers to list. Sonny Gray leads that group. And Stanton was and still is a stupid trade.
BTW on the flip side we have seen the last Andujar. Request a trade. He can be a good DH for someone
Every GM makes bad moves.
Gallo - I can not defend the Gallo move now, but I was ok with it when it happened. I was wrong on that one.
Stanton - Stanton is clearly not a bust right now. I wouldn't say he's living up to his salary, but the people who obsessed over his deal a few years ago are now strangely silent.
Hicks - Hicks is turning out to be a flop. They gave him too many years and he benefited from a career year in his walk year.
Andujar - Andjuar was a 3rd base butcher and had to get demoted to learn a new position. He'll get traded near the deadline I think.
Sonny Gray is clearly a good pitcher but couldn't cut it in NY. All 3 guys that the Yankees traded away busted, sadly. So it's a total wash.
Donaldson - meh
Rizzo - win so far
Let's talk about some of the positive moves to keep things balanced:
Gerrit Cole - Win so far despite his large contract
Taillon - Win
Cortes, Montgomery - homegrown pitchers, didn't get traded - win
Severino - mixed bag so far due to injury, looks like a possible win
Like I said, some moves are great, some aren't. This year things are good and there's little to be critical of if you're being objective.
