OT Scotch Plains NJ

Florham Park, great town, just voted #1 in NJ by one of those publications (for what it's worth).just up route 24, but in Morris County. $15k taxes in Westfield/Cranford are $9k-$10k here.

Odds are not good but if you have parents that give a crap about you and demand that you do your part than anything is possible. I grew up in the crappiest part of my beloved Elizabeth but sports and my mom were always there and after high school when there was no money for college I spent 4 awesome years growing up in the USMC and then RU followed with two graduations from RU and the rest is history. Life is good but you have to be willing to work hard. Donate to the build fund please GO RU!!!
Chris, I grew up in the Port. Graduated E-High in 82. Same deal....strong mom and hard work. Did my share of sh$t growing up and was lucky to make it through, many friends not so lucky...

Big Lou and chrisru99, I have some more specific questions about new prov. Mind if I drop you a line and pick your brains? Thanks.

Morris County is probably the best in the State overall when you factor in, everything.

Though sprawl is starting to hurt some towns that used to be a little more rural.
I would say Monmouth county is the best. Yes they have Asbury Park(that's making a huge comeback) and Neptune but really they're like kiddie land light compared to Camden and Newark. I've lived in Morris, Ocean, Burlington, Somerset, Essex, and Hudson counties, by far Monmouth outpaces them all.

Looking at sp as well. Is there much of a nightlife or restaurants in the area?
Martine works like a mini downtown with restaurants and shops. Stage House Tavern is a cool place for food and drinks. There's also a diner, some delis, and one of the best butcher shops in the state. Not an expert though, since i'm only in the area, not in town.

Thanks. Been looking at the big 3 - scotch plains Westfield and Cranford. Westfield seems a bit overpriced at the moment. Cranford is pretty tight on inventory. Lots of supply in SP - but seems like the downtown pretty slow. Those new condos on Martine/south ave done have much in them yet.

Carlin also lives in Scotch Plains, so there's that.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm in Cranford now, and want to upgrade within town, but know the reality is that inventory is tight and there's a lot of people trying to buy (tiny 3 bed/1 bath capes are easily going for more than $400k). That's why we're adding other towns to the list.

What about Keansburg and Long Branch?

OP, where is your current place in Cranford? I'm looking in JC but afraid it might be too late. Cranford is on the shortlist of suburban towns.
