Ok Boomer…

I don’t think you know what a ‘white head’ is as black people’s hair turns white when they get older too (you should see my brother, lol). It’s an age difference and you just highlighted this perfectly..

You just listed off a whole bunch of artists whose most recent big hit was 40 years ago.

Kendrick Lamar had the biggest song on the planet in 2024, and had literally the entire stadium singing it.

You don’t have to like rap, but it isn’t going anywhere👍🏾
And actually growing in popularity this board is not a place to check for growing trends in pop culture ( or a lot of other things for that matter)…I am not a fan but you have to respect the year he had and the fact that it actually got the future generations of potential fans that spend their money on NFL related things in my house up and singing in unison.

The Green Bay Packers had a 3-Peat in the old NFL from 1929-1931.
I didn't hear it mentioned during the Super Bowl telecast.
Check out how many of the players from those Packer teams made the NFL Hall of Fame.
All-stars at every position...except maybe wide receiver. And a pretty good quarterback. And a pretty decent head coach too.

Black head? She has a pimple?

Do you idiots even understand what a ‘White head’ is?! It’s an OLD PERSON! It has nothing to do with race you flaming moron!

Black people’s hair turns white when they get older too man, I would know!
Maybe be more clear next time.

Pffft- Lombardi. Call me when he gets a trophy named after him.

They also had a 3-peat in 65, 66, 67. The last of that 3 was the first Super Bowl.
No. The Packers won the last pre-Super Bowl NFL championship and then the first Super Bowl over the Chiefs and the second over the Raiders...both blow outs.

It’s not often the best team wins the Super Bowl. Less often than you think. Just look to the giants for that point to be illustrated. Amazing performance by the eagles.

Historically, this was arguably the best Super Bowl and not arguably, the best Super Bowl performance ever.

And Kendrick delivered one of the best halftime shows to boot.

American pageantry at its finest yesterday.

Must be the same paper that said Joe's running circles around everyone in The White House.

Same here, I'm only here for the football.
+1
I haven't watched a halftime show in decades. However, this one seems to have more critics than normal trashing it. Seriously, when was the last time the halftime show was actually good?

This one was so bad that it’s getting a lot of attention for being bad. Worst ever is the consensus not sure who was in charge of this half time show but that person should no5 be allowed to ever do it again.

I received multiple texts from friends about how bad the halftime show was.

These are people in their mid 30s. And it has nothing to do with race.

Other than that the Super Bowl was great.

Go Birds.

Pretty sure they just extended his deal

the super bowl has always chose an artist or artists that are more than just the current artist of the month. 90s and 00s were full of legacy artists that appealed to everyone, they started to move toward more current artists in 10s but at least these artists had broad appeal with the audience. I dont think Billie Elish should be doing a halftime show either. Lamar may be huge right in the sad current climate of music but I bet you half the audience had never heard a song by him. I heard of his name but never song. The Super Bowl audience isnt gearted to the tween to 25 crowd so...
Time to get with the times my guy, is The Weeknd a “Legacy” artist? How about Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga 10 years ago? Rihanna? You think these are “Legacy artists?”

My guy, you listed off a list of artists who have not produced a hit in 40 years.

The Super Bowl isn’t geared to the over 60 crowd either bubba

You could have just said "old head" but it wouldn't be as inflammatory. Just admit you didn't like getting called out on your little symbolic word gaming and are now saying you didn't really mean what we know you meant to say. I could see why Kendrick Lamar appeals to you, with all the symbolism and cloaked f u's

Have a blessed day.
Who called out who?

You interpreted a term about old people as something else and now expect me to feel silly about it?🤣🤣🤣

K.

Insert your head directly into your ass

Hey dumb dumb… “white head” has nothing to do with color either.

It’s about one’s age. Would you prefer next time if I refer to you all as ‘geriatric’s’?
Dude, time for you to get back on your meds. I spoke to people in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, and by far the overwhelming consensus was that this was the worst half time show ever.

i just said that it used to be legacy artists and recently have pulled more current artists...still its undeniable the artists you all just mentioned are all acceptable because they have very very wide spread and appeal

the sad reality is that the days of megastars are over with

"have very very wide spread and appeal"... just say it already

Kendrick has 5th most daily streams by artist of all time. Top 10 by monthly listeners. Top 20 by total streams.

When 2 Live Crew came out a lot of people didn't like it .
Among the most vociferous were all the black grandparents who lived under Jim Crow (we had a lot of them in town).

DMX ( "X Gon' Give It To Ya" and " Party Up") was local and I liked him.
I liked Tupac's rap about his mother, Biggies' "Hypnotize" and Cage's "A Suicidal Failure."
I like some rap just like I like some foreign films.

But I saw how kids changed from it - the violence, slurs, glorification of "thug life" and prison dress (low riding).
I've long thought rap was injected into the culture to stoke militancy.
I don't think it was intended to be used by rappers/fans against rappers/fans but that's what happened.

I get what you say about white hair - I'm just over conditioned to being called a racist because I don't like most rap culture.
I think the audience for it is getting smaller and that's a reason to try and push into Country.
People are tired of formula music with bass tracks and lyric salad being churned into same ole same ole.
Sean combs debacle isn't going to help

streams...lol

i dont particularly like Snoop Dog but he has widespread appeal...same for the The Weekend

the best performance of the day was by the Southern University Marching band and their dancers

I remember when rhianna put on a great show and there was a group who was still saying it was bad why put a pregnant woman on the halftime show.

It’s always the same.

yeah i dont know a pregnant woman with a belly is the right aesthetic

I loved the Diana Ross performance though in 96 and gasp I wasnt even 30 yet

This thread is really getting silly. I don’t particularly care for Kendrick Lamar’s music and didn’t enjoy the halftime show as a result. But c’mon people — different strokes for different folks. Fact is he’s a superstar with a ton of appeal. Do we really need to argue back and forth about different tastes in music?

I don’t think it’s so much arguing about different tastes in music, as it is the decision to have him perform at the SB. If you like Kendrick Lamar’s music, have at it: listen to it, stream it, go to his concerts. But the choice to perform at the SB should definitely be one that has more universal appeal. There are plenty of acts that young/old, black/white would support, and fit this criteria.

it was as the worse ever that’s coming from lots of people under 40. it is what it is not sure why that idiot keeps attacking people for not liking the music yesterday.

Undeniably older people both black and white have far greater appreciation of real musical talent.
No hippies of the 60s and 70s would ever dispute the musical talents of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louie Armstrong or Glen Miller.
No Grungers of the 1990s would ever dispute the talent of The Allman brothers, The Stones, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Michael Jackson and The Supremes….Real musical talent.

I grew up with Motown, The English Invasion, Southern Rock, Great Blues by Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Buddy Guy, Ray Charles….Elvis!

The music of today does not transcend, thusly there’s no music appreciation for yesterday’s performance imo.

Whitney Houston’s National Anthem would have made people cry in 1920 or 2025…. Talent

Great music is appreciated looking backward not forward…Jimi Hendrix would probably say he dug Johnny Cash or Taj Mahal, if he was listening last night he’d say, that ain’t music.

even after all the national backlash ? when that many people are not fans of a show that tells you all you need to know.
National backlash? WTF?!

I didn't particularly like or dislike the show, but "national backlash" to a free show you didn't need to watch might be the most overdramatic thing ever posted on a board full of overdramatic posts.

Katy Perry singing “I kissed a girl and I liked it” has more widespread appeal than the artist who had the biggest song in the world in 2024?

The days of mega stars is over?! Have you heard of Taylor Swift? How bout Beyoncé? And I’m the one who’se high?!
