Paterno thread (merged)

Now a second victim of Sandusky in the 1970s -- in 197freaking1! -- says he went to Paterno and he told him to drop it.

Paterno is in hell and anyone who defends him is a member of a cult. Period. Full stop.

There is likely no such thing as hell or heaven after death. They are just constructs made up by man to make him feel better about the inevitability of death and to stroke his ego.

While alive is when it can truly be said if man resides in heaven/hell.

“The mind is its own place, and in itself can make a heaven of hell, a hell of heaven..”

I hope you are very wrong. Because people like JoePa & Sandusky & other child rapists deserve to be in a physical hell. Because clearly their minds have not put them there.

They will just deny and claim it was made up, just like Coach and Joe in the emails were the Women's Tennis Coach and Joe Pesci, and they will claim this 62 year old was an Ohio State alum looking for a payout and everyone who believes him is jealous of their program...

Sociologists should really study BWI to see how cults form.

This would be funny if it weren't so scary. Joe Pesci lol

So....do they STILL erect a NEW statue despite everything coming out right now?

That board is a place to go to lose your faith in humanity.

I have to say, I've seen some serious shit. I've seen things most people will never see. But I went over to BWI last night and... it was nauseating. There are a lot of people on that board who are seriously f*cked up. Like... should probably be rounded up.

Has he returned from his "The Joe We Know" publicity tour?

LOL they are complete losers over there. Mocking/discrediting Sara Ganim, questioning the sworn testimony of a victim, denigrating people merely because they come from Centre or Clinton counties. Real class acts they are.

The idolatry of a man who coached a f*cking game for a living is both humorous and scary. Alabama has moved on from The Bear. FSU has moved on from Bobby. But PSU can't let go of Paterno. It's really sad and quite pathetic actually, whether he was complicit in the Sandusky stuff or not. (and it's starting to look more and more like he may have been). I understand the Paterno family defending the man's name...that is their husband/father/grandfather, etc. But some football fans on a message board? Get a g*d damn life people.

Wishful thinking.

Your post is a construct of a man, intended to stroke his own ego, as well as the ego of all mankind.

We are all sinners by nature, headed for hell, without the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I recommend we all put our faith in Jesus for our salvation from God's wrath, while the offer is still in the table.

Penn State and Joe Pa worship at the altar of Football. Nothing matters but their god including children being raped by a pedophile.

what is more sickening is reading the delusional Kool Aid drinking asswipes over on BWI who will defend joe and psu and seemingly even jerry until their dying day.

Wow, u call yourself a woman with that mouth? Class up

What part of my comment do you find offensive? Calling psu & joepa pedophile protectors? Calling the posters on bwi asswipes? I'm pretty sure the facts speak for themselves.
Since you are a "poster since Monday" I'm going to say this : move along troll. And I notice that I'm not the first person to tell you that this week.

You worked for six years under Jerry Sandusky. Did you have any inkling of what was going on?

Schiano: Because of the situation being what it is, I'm not even going to get into it. I'm so far removed. Again, you don't need people making commentaries on things like this. It's just a sad thing.

He pretty much avoided the question.

There is a great deal of circumstantial evidence which suggests Schiano was part of the narrative. As @RUScrew85 said, if it turns out he had any knowledge of the events then he's dead to us.

im pretty sure that there are two sides to every story and lumping PSU as a whole is downright wrong. I was at the game this year and was treated with nothing but class by their fans even in the fourth quarter when it was just brutal to watch. All I heard was "Welcome to the Big 10" and "It's great to have another team so close in conference" or something else extremely cordial.

In my tailgate we had some PSU posters that I was having a convo with and they flat out told me how much they all hated what happened and how they have been tailgating and spending every fall weekend at Beaver Stadium and all the sudden people are just bashing them just for wearing PSU gear to away games (I know for a fact it happened 2 years ago in Piscataway)

I genuinely feel bad for the fans and alumni of PSU. THE REAL FANS, Not the crazies who go on tangents on BWI who don't have a degree from any school, but the ones who said "you know what, we need to support the student athletes moving forward" and now today idiots like you are going around reminding them of horrible events that happened. So literally the only thing u are doing mrs screw is trying to make others feel worse about themselves. Classy

Idiots like me??? surely you jest. trying to make others feel bad about themselves? they should do that all on their own if they continue to spew the jopa protecting BS that they do. and it's not just the BWI nuts, I had 2 vendors in my office this week who were saying poor joe, he did what he was obligated to. People may say it is horrid what happened, and on that we can all agree, but talk to them. get them to discuss joe and you will see they all think he got a raw deal. I've yet to talk to one psu fan that thinks joe deserved sanctions and statue removal or any other actions taken against him. "he did what he was legally supposed to". and I and many others call BS on that.

and by the way, it shouldn't matter if a fan went to the school or not to consider them a fan. there is a large percentage of people on this board who didn't go to RU but support the school and the athletic department..

I, too, attended the psu game last year. yes, the people were very nice when we tailgated and wandered through the RV lot. yes we had a mostly good time except for the outcome of the game, the weather and the jerk who ran through our tailgate and stole our R flag. BUT, when I saw the memorial to Joe I knew it was not just a small few that had drank the Kool Aid ..it is the masses. Jonestown 2.

photo from outside the stadium....where people were PRAYING.

Joe Knew.

With this kind of allegation out there (true or untrue) I doubt Schiano would ever take the Penn State job if offered once Franklin gets the boot.

and truth be told with this news out I doubt it would ever be offered.

You are entitled to your opinion. My opinion is that your opinion is wrong.

Where's Finebaum now and his f-in rant about putting the statue up? As if putting the statue back up is so damn important with all of the crap that happened there. Dude is such a shill for the biggest and nastiest programs.

Wy don't you call in to his show to make this point?

'Joe Paterno embodied the way college football was supposed to be," Schiano said in a statement. "He educated young men by using the game of football, along with all of its challenges, in preparation for the real world. He was a great thinker, who was never afraid to say and act on what he believed. He leaves a tremendous legacy with the thousands of players and coaches he worked with...'

It's hard to believe Greg didn't know about Sandusky and the paterno cover up as he worked directly under Sandusky all those years . But this statement shows his support for joe pa and you would have to think schiano wouldn't say something like that if he knew paterno was scum . If schiano was involved in the coverup i would be disappointed in a man that I thought represented Rutgers well .

Penn state fans will never even consider that Joe was guilty of anything.....

Two of the prevailing themes

A set of fans question how any of the 1976 victims got personally in contact with Joe back then, being they were kids
And access to Joe P might have been tough.... And why did the parents not do much back then?

Another group act like they are tired of hearing about it.... Joe did what was required by law and that was good enough..... Personally if most people knew an abuse was ongoing, they would not allow it.... But this argument
Falls on deaf ears over on their forum..... If Joe reported it to the authorities, good enough, according to them, don't bother firing rapist.

I hope he wouldn't make that statement knowing about the massive coverup but I have serious doubts. Eventually the names of the 3 coaches who allegedly saw things in the early 90s will come out and I suspect other details will leak. It seems far fetched to think these assistants didn't confide in each other and I think Husky nails it re: the blue code of silence but I'll reserve judgement until more info is available.

Surprised local media haven't tried to make this Rutgers fault yet. But if... and a ***BIG IF*** Schiano knew about this and did nothing, then he should be no where near Rutgers. I know im going to get blasted for this but if someone feels like this about the PSU coaches, should feel the same about anyone else.

It's amazing, if this was a thread about a recruit , it would be 60% PSU trolls invading. Since it's about court documents, the board is almost PSU free

I do not care how much good Joe P did for Penn state and the community if he knew that children were being molested, and did not get rid of Sandusky...... There is no amount of talk, donation to the university, or community projects, that fixes that.

It doesn't matter who knew. Whoever did, and remained silent is 100% wrong. And no amount of history will allow me to forgive that silence.

If Greg Schiano knew, he should be treated as a pariah. I want no part of someone that would cover something up like that.

I would be shocked if Schiano didn't know something was going on with Sandusky while he was there.

Until there is proof, it's very dangerous to go down that path imo.

Have you ever searched to see how many registered sex offenders lived in New Jersey alone? There are bound to be a few that live just a couple of blocks from you. Do you know them all?

There is a reason so many guys like Sandusky get away with this crap for years. It's not like they advertise what they're doing. Maybe Greg knew, maybe he didn't. But until I hear from him or see proof saying he definitely knew, I'm not jumping to the conclusion he did.

From the linked Luicci article from 2011:

Clearly he had no intention of answering the question. I think it is reasonable to infer that at minimum, he "had an inkling".

http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2011/11/joe_paterno_retirement_saddens.html

Here is the thing, as the process plays out, these Assistants may be interviewed (possibly even testify) and the choices are continue the cover up, or lay the blame at the feet of the Head Coach.

They could say, "I told my supervisor (JoePa) what else could I have done." Then, this shit just got real. I'd love to see how the fanatics spin that one; if that is a suitable defense for Joe, it should work for them also, right? (Not for ME, but they seem willing to buy that BS.)

Good find. I think it is reasonable to assume pretty much all of the coaches that worked with Sandusky "had an inkling". The real question is who had more than "an inkling"...who saw "things" or had direct knowledge of "incidents"?
