Pike- Big Ten Coach of Year darkhorse

I would agree with you if we had won a couple of these close ones. Can't give it to a coach of a 14 win team. He was close to being in the mix though.

lets put the homerism aside...Pike has done wonders but do you know how ludicrous it is to say a guy that will go 3-15/4-14 should get coach of the year in the Big 10

Right now.....Collins at Northwestern is a big fave IF is team can hold it together down the stretch and finish top 4. Otherwise Gard and Painter are big contenders...with Marylands losses of late Turgeron will not get it. Those are your 3.....Wisky is now up to #7 and they are dominating in conference, if Collins doesnt win it, it goes to Gard most likely

sure if RU wins or makes it to the Big 10 tourney finals, Pike has a chance but not by winning 2-4 league games

Minnesota coach should get it. They had 2 B1G wins last year and now are NCAA bound.

Though, if we win 3 or 4 of these last 6, then he gets it.

yeah Ricky has a shot but it depends how they finish, they really slumped badly losing a lot of conference games. Their team was not bad last year despite winning only 2..had like 8 games lost by 6 or less and then the suspensions tanked them. He had a great class coming in too

If NW makes the tournament it's almost 100% going to be Collins. Ricky has a shot, but Minnesota is under .500 in conference right now. Pike has clearly changed the RU program for the better, but there's no chance a team with 4-6 wins in conference max wins it.

If we can get to 4 conf wins, RU fans should be doing backflips. That would be a great accomplishment and hopefully will pay off in recruiting.

Minn can go 5-2 over their last 7------the schedule softens a bit for them.

But just when you think you have things figured out an upset changes your thinking.

My money would be on Collins or Pitino at this point.

BTN announcer apparently thinks he has a chance .

No, that is not what the announcer said. The announcer said Pikiell should be considered, not that he had a chance.

For the record: No chance.

Also for the record: Not deserving, no matter how fantastic he has been (and Pikiell and his staff have been terrific). You simply cannot award a last place to 2nd to last place (still a chance, I suppose, RU could pass Illinois) team's coach the coach of the year award.

Note I did say "dark horse." I understand the optics of giving a last place coach the award.

If I had to vote and wasn't biased

McCaffrey
Pitino
Collins

All very close. Depends on the finish. Tough to count out painter gard or turgeon. Since B1G doesn't have many great teams or great players you'd think all team that win should have coaches considered.

Pike not even in the running. Not enough W's. He is however an amazing coach and is juicing everything out of what we have.

If the announcer says he should be considered isn't he implying that he thinks he has a chance? Why consider someone who has no chance. That being said, I don't think he has a chance either.
