Quiet confidence on the court ; smooth scorer ; plays guard and not forward but about the same size as Sellers ; wish we had him on the Rutgers team. Just the kind of player that we need

I sat next to his parents at the RAC. I asked them if Rutgers recruited him and they said not at all. He's from Philly so it's hard to believe that Jordan didn't even inquire. (actually I guess it's not hard to believe).

Amazing that EJ didn't even try to get him. Imagine how much better the team would be if he played for Rutgers?

Anybody with a scoring pulse would be a huge help .A Phil Sellers type player is at another level which obviously would have a meaningful impact on perception and positive results on the court.

I know EJ and love him, but he did an awful job (and he would tell you that). Never left the campus, never pushed the kids

PSU has 4 kids from Philly's Roman Catholic HS over a span of 3 years of recruits (for those wondering, it's Rasheed Wallace's HS, who went to Carolina and had a lengthy NBA career)........They also have two former Villanova coaches in Chambers and an assistant on their staff, specifically designed to eventually make the inroads in that area, for a player like Carr, who is as high as a Top 60 player, dependent on what ranking/service you lean on more....at worst, he's a Top 125 national recruit (one service had him at #43)....

Carr reminds me of Sam Cassell, in style and he's savvy, without being an electric athlete....the whole lack of recruiting thing has gone out the window with this staff, we are pretty much everywhere.....ironically, our contacts are better in greater New England because of familiarity, so not recruiting Philly now is not exactly a priority, but we have offers out to kids and have seen kids play live from Philly, unlike the prior staff.

Carr is very good and draws a lot of fouls but I don't think he is anything like Sellers. Phil was so tough that he scared opponents by looking at them. He was a great scorer and rebounder and averaged I believe 20 ppg for his 4 years at RU. He really was a PF most of the time and he was only 6'5" or possibly less. There is a reason he was first All American by the Associated Press.
