We travel to Maryland to tackle a Maryalnd squad who is not as strong as in previous years. They have juggled their lineups moving guys around so you don't know who will face our guys. They are 5-9 on the season losing to Navy 201-8 and Lehigh 35-3 on 1/11 in their last two bouts. They have nationally ranked kids in Geoffrey Alexander at 133 who beat Mason Beckman of Lehigh the other night and Spencer Meyers at 285 who beat Smith last year I believe. They have a tough Shyeim Brown at 141 or 149 who was a teammate of Tyson Dippery in high school. This is a match that we are clearly competitive and hopefully get our first Big Ten victory even with some backups. We have to show up to wrestle or we can stub our toe.

125 McCabe vs Josh Polacek
133 Delvecchio vs Geoffrey Alexander
141 Ashnault vs Shyheim Brown or Frank Goodwin
149 Theobold vs Brwon, Goodwin or RJ DeGeorge
157 Painton vs Lou Mascola (Seton Hall Prep)
165 Visicaro vs Tyler Mannion or Justin Alexander
174 Backukas vs Josh Snook or TJ Guidice (Hillsboruough NJ)
184 Hrymack or Parfumi vs Tony Gardner
197 Campy vs Rob Fitgerald
285 Smith vs Spencer Meyers

Let's see which RU shows up!

Coach Goodale sounded fired up about this match after Fridays match, hopefully the wrestlers feel the same. Do you know who will be sitting out for us? I think these guys are frustrated and ready to take that out against Maryland.

Doesn't look like any radio, internet or TV for this dual. Too bad it would be nice to watch RU wrestling get their 1st ever Big Ten win. Also was looking forward to Smith vs Myers. Myers just returned to the Maryland line up after playing in the Maryland football bowl game.

Let's Go RU!

Weighed in for #RUWR (2 of 2): Visicaro (165), Bakuckas (174), Pafumi (184), Campolattano (197), Smith (285).

First Match:

125 pounds[/B]: Sean McCabe (12-5) vs. Josh Polacek (6-7)

@RUWrestling: McCabe escapes at the 35-second mark to take a 1-0 lead. Polacek has 1:25 of RT. McCabe starts the third on top #RUWR

@RUWrestling: 125: Sean McCabe (#RUWR) dec. over Josh Polacek (UMD), 3-1. No. 22 Rutgers leads Maryland, 3-0.

133 pounds[/B]: No. NR/17/NR/NR Scott DelVecchio (13-5) vs. No. 14/10/13/19 Geoffrey Alexander (12-3)

@RUWrestling: DelVecchio just misses on a TD to end the first, but leads, 2-1. He starts the second down #RUWR

@RUWrestling: DelVecchio all over Alexander thus far, keeping the pressure on. He gets another TD to take a 5-2 lead into the third. #RUWR

@RUWrestling: 133: No. NR/17/NR Scott DelVecchio (#RUWR) wins, 10-4, over No. 14/10/13 Goeffrey Alexander (UMD). No. 22 Rutgers leads UMD, 6-0.

Scott Del Vecchio wins 10-4 ! RU leads 6-0

next
141: No. 7/8/9 Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) vs. No. NR/17/NR Shyheim Browm (UMD).

@RUWrestling: A lot of sprawling, no scoring in the first. Ashnault defers, Brown chooses the down position in the second. #RUWR

@RUWrestling: An Ashnault TD with 18 seconds left gives him a 2-1 lead with 1:11 of RT. Neutral to start the third #RUWR

@RUWrestling: 141: No. 7/8/9 Anthony Ashnault (#RUWR) wins by a 3-1 decision over No. NR/17/NR Shyheim Brown (UMD). No. 22 RU leads UMD, 9-0.

Next up:

149 pounds[/B]: No. NR/NR/17/NR Ken Theobold (16-4) vs. Ben Dorsay (2-5)

@RUWrestling: Another three-point NF to end the period has Theobold dominating through one. It's 8-0 with Dorsay down to stat the second #RUWR

Maryland Twitter feed said not Dorsey.

@RUWrestling: Theobold has RT locked up. He leads, 13-0, with the third period upcoming. A tech fall would be his first this season #RUWR

157 pounds[/B]: Dylan Painton (0-2) vs. Lou Mascola (10-9) , Mascola from Seton Hall Prep

Painton trails 4-1 , end of 1st

@RUWrestling: Mascola leads Painton, 4-1, at the end of the first. Painton will work from top to start the second #RUWR

@RUWrestling: Mascola leads Painton, 15-1, entering the third period. Painton chooses top to begin the third #RUWR

@RUWrestling: 157: Lou Mascola (UMD) tech fall over Dylan Painton (#RUWR), 16-1 (5:11). No. 22 RU leads UMD, 14-5, at the intermission.

Following Intermission will be:

165 pounds[/B]: Nick Visicaro (3-2) vs. Tyler Manion (3-10)

I think the only underdog RU has following intermission is Smith.

165 pounds: Nick Visicaro (3-2) vs. Tyler Manion (3-10)
174 pounds: No. 20/15/18/NR Phil Bakuckas (15-7) vs. Josh Snook (10-9)
184 pounds: Hayden Hrymack (9-6) or Anthony Pafumi (11-8) vs. Tony Gardner (1-8)
197 pounds: No. NR/18/NR/NR Andrew Campolattano (1-3) vs. Rob Fitzgerald (8-10)
Heavyweight: No. 13/13/14/11 Billy Smith (9-3) vs. No. 10/11/NR/9 Spencer Myers (2-0) or Sean Twigg (4-8)

A Manion stall point ties things, 1-1, after he escaped early. Visicaro starts the third on bottom. RT not a factor #RUWR

@RUWrestling: 165: Nick Visicaro (#RUWR) gets his first dual win of 2014-15, 4-1, against Tyler Manion (UMD). No. 22 RU leads UMD, 17-5.
