I have no information but I would be surprised if Bridgett competes in the long jump. He has not been in any meets since the middle of January which I would presume would be do to injury.

Would he be healthy for spring/outdoor track season?

Tentative meet schedule involving our athletes: (All times Eastern)

Women's Pole Vault - 4pm Friday March 10th
Women's Mile semifinal- 6pm Friday March 10th
Men's Long Jump - 9pm Friday March 10th
Women's Mile final - 6pm Saturday, March 11th
Women's 3000 final - 7pm Saturday March 11th

The schedulers didn't exactly do any favors for the qualifiers who want to double in the mile and 3000... Three women, including Alexandra Carlson, qualified for both distances, although they may not all qualify for the mile final on Saturday.

Tentative full meet schedule link is below -Note: Times in full meet schedule are Mountain time (Albuquerque)

ESPN+ will stream the championships live starting at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time Friday, March 10 and starting at 1:30 p.m. Eastern time Saturday, March 11. There will be two re-airs of the meet. The first re-air will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, March 12 on ESPNU. The second re-air of the championship will take place starting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time Monday, March 13 on ESPNU.

Yeah.. I've been unable to find any explanation online since about 2 weeks ago... We should find out his status for the meet by Wednesday when the official start lists are published, if we don't find out before that.

The last time Bridgett competed was on January 14. He won the LJ at 25 10 3/4 but did not take his final jump. The week before he ran a preliminary heat in the 60 meter, which tied the school record at that point. He did not race in the finals. He also did not compete in the LJ that weekend. My guess has been he tweaked something in the 60 meter race. The next week in the LJ, his best result was his second jump with the next 3 jumps progressably shorter. Again my guess is he strained something and has not competed since.

My guess is Carlson does not try to double and she opts for the mile because she has a better chance to get first team AA based on the performance list. Of course she could enter both- if she does not qualify for the mile final, then she runs the 3000. If she qualifies for the mile final, she does not run the 3000 meters.

I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to have been any mention of his status in the RU track and field news or meet write-ups so far.. I mean, the guy is an elite athlete, and finished 4th in the NCAA Indoor Championships last year and sixth in the national outdoor championships. It's not like certain team sports where a team might withhold injury information so the opponent doesn't know which player to plan for... Maybe the team will mention it in their NCAA Championships articles since he's one of the Rutgers qualifiers.

Buntin who ran 20.73 in the 200 meters. I suppose that time was not fast enough to qualify.

The qualifying for the indoor meet is more stringent than the outdoor version. The indoor meet is on two days. The outdoor has a multiple day regional split between east and west and the qualifiers go to the nationals. Indoors the 200 meters probably has two rounds. The Outdoor probably has two in the regional and two more in the finals.

That's correct... For the D1 indoor championship meet, it's basically the 16 athletes in the nation with the top performances (best times or heights or distances) during the indoor season in each event who qualify. Nadale Buntin's conference winning time of 20.73 had him ranked 27th nationally. (The 16 athletes who'll be competing in the NCAA men's 200 have season best times ranging from 20.20 to 20.62.)

Well, here it is, from the official RU pre-NCAA Champs article that Tango posted... It would be fantastic if he can completely recover, get the redshirt, and we can have him back next year:

"Unfortunately, A'nan got injured long jumping in our second meet of the season. We had hoped to get him back in time for Big Ten and NCAAs. However, his progression didn't move as fast as we hoped. He'll be ready for a big outdoor and we'll look to get a medical redshirt to get him back for next year's indoor season."
