It was one of the greatest moments in the history of Rutgers University athletics.

In March, two Rutgers wrestlers won NCAA individual national titles, a rare moment of glory for an athletic department that’s mostly struggled in high-profile sports.

But when the university’s Board of Governors tried to honor the wrestlers at its Newark campus Tuesday, it was instead drowned out by protestors in a tense confrontation that culminated in a chorus of boos.

What a sorry bunch of killjoys.
And they can't figure why folks are not sympathetic to their cause?

“As far as we can tell, they were not booing the wrestlers,” said David Hughes, vice president of the faculty union .“They were booing President Barchi and the Board of Governors for devoting time to athletics when they so obviously need to turn their full attention to the faculty’s demands for quality higher education.”

Just pathetic. How many schools in the country do more for minorities and women than Rutgers? Let them try to pull this crap at an SEC school.

They did, at the University of Missouri in 2015 ... and the school's administration caved ... and it resulted in 13% less enrollment over the last three years with a 33% drop off in freshmen entering the school. They also had to fire 185 employees to try and close the budget gap (hmm, you mean there's less money to go around when 1/3rd of your customers leave?).

Abro quoting David Hughes the ring leader of douchebags against athletics is bad form. I wouldn't put stock into any spin he attempted. Plus our wrestling coaches were there as protestors sitting right next to them were booing. Goodale and Pritzlaff were told they could leave and did. It was a disgusting display by the professors. We cheer them when they're honored during sporting events but our coach's hard work gets booed when honored? F' them all.
