We had this game. Easily.

The Kansas transfer was the difference. We didn’t have an inside presence to match him.

Dylan also needed to sit with the 4 fouls. He doesn’t know how to play D with foul trouble. It was like 4 on 5.

We went from Myles to Cliff and now our only shot blocker is a wing……who may end up being our center

St. John's defeated Rutgers 91-85 in a highly contested scrimmage.
A lot to like, a lot to fix but ceiling is incredibly high for this group. I would’ve liked a shooter on the floor at the end but can’t complain about having Derkack in there, he played extremely well minus that pass at the end.

Liked what I saw from Derkack and Hayes. Martini a scrapper that didn't have a great first showing.
Davis looked decent, but still limited. JWill struggled in a new role.
Ogbole and Somerville didn't look great.

Davis played way too many minutes . He is a comply liability on the offensive end and the lanes were to clogged with 2 Non shooters on the floor. Pike needs more shooting on the floor with Ace and Dylan. Pike figure it out.
I thought Big O could at least protect the rim quietly and just kind of be a dull presence out there the bulk of the game. He’s not out of position like Somerville and he’s not tiny like Marini so he’s going to play some, unfortunately. But he doesn’t look good.
Keep in mind that Dylan is still rounding into basketball form. He played very well for someone out a couple months.
Guard play at end when ball is out of Dylan’s hand wasn’t good at all. JMAC way too many shots. JWill can’t commit a half court violation inexcusable.
Davis way too much PT and too many shots.
I am not as high on JMike as others. He is high energy and plays tough defense, but he has issues with his game still in the half court, plays too fast, etc.. I like Davis off the bench in small spurts, playing with a second unit to give the team a boost. He played a lot of minutes and hope the plan is not for him to be a starter playing this many minutes each game. Acuff is still working his way back so that likely led to Davis playing a lot of minutes.
