Texas Tom Jurich and Louisville Julie Hermman

How would some of the national media asswipes who have taken plenty of potshots at Julie reconcile such a move?

It was not the national media, just Bam. There is no mention of JH to L'ville in the article, just Jurich to UT.

It's a stupid concersation to have. Lville is one of the best athletic departments in the country they aren't coming after JH and I say that as a supporter of hers.

IIRC didn't Texas already gauge the interest of Jurich before Patterson was hired and he said something to the effect of he's very happy at Louisville. Has anything changed? If not I don't see him going anywhere. I'd be shocked if he did.

For what it's worth, Oliver Luck's name is popping up all over the place.
You know I could actually see him in that job if he wanted it. Does he want to deal with the headaches of those ultra rich boosters or is he happy working in the NCAA?

Reading an article from today sounds like he wanted the job when Patterson got it. Well then to me he'd be a very good candidate.

From the article:
Texas officials interviewed Luck, then the athletic director at West Virginia, in 2013. Luck, who graduated from law school at Texas, badly wanted the job and was among the large chorus stunned by Patterson’s hiring. Luck moved on to work at the NCAA in 2014, but he could likely be lured back to Austin. After all, the choice between one of college sports’ strongest brands (Texas) as opposed to its weakest (the NCAA) isn’t much of a choice.

The baffling part of overlooking Oliver Luck was that the duality of his résumé from the athletics and business sector fit just what Texas needed. Luck brought MLS’s Dynamo to Houston and secured public financing to build BBVA Compass Stadium. As the CEO of the Houston Sports Authority, Luck also played a major role in the completion of the Texans’ NRG Stadium and the building of the Rockets’ Toyota Center. He brings an ability to relate to, connect with and lead people, which Patterson sorely lacked.

It may depend on how much the wife likes Indy. He did go to UT Law.

Luck now works for the NCAA in Indianapolis. He lives in Indiannapolis. His son is the QB for .... Indianapolis. He lives in Indiannopolis. Gets to see his son Andrew play now all the time, not sure if Andrew Luck has kids yet, if so... well, doubt Oliver would leave that sweet gig and set up to take over in Austin. Money can be persuasive however, lots and lots and lots of money.

UT will happily fly him on a private plane every weekend back and forth to whatever town AL is playing in, if they want him and if that is an issue. They don't let things like $ stand in the way of doing what they want at UT.

Luck was the lead candidate for the job originally, but got nosed out in the end.

I think UT should hire Mike Tranghese. A quality prospect who understands the importance of college football. He can expand the landscape of Longhorn football when he establishes a regional campus in Providence, RI, which as you all know, is the center of the universe.

I believe they still own the house in Houston.

Luck to Texas would be very interesting. He's a Midwestern guy and good friends with Jim Delany.

Louisville hired Bobby Petrino back... Julie was a successful assistant-athletic director at Louiseville who is still familiar with boosters and local business owners. She's an experience fund raiser in the community.
