Thrilled We're In BIG...But Missing Rivals

Hoping that we find a few teams in BIG East that we develop into true rivals (I didn't list WVA or Miami....since it seemed that we never beat them- or never did). Here's to tOSU, TTFP, UM, MSU, Maryland & Indie becoming go to destinations / must see for not only RU fans...but the nation.

Cincy and USF - mean absolutely nothing to me, or the vast majority of our fan base, and weren't "rivals" for very long. You can really say the same for 'Ville.

Pitt - yeah, this one I miss

When USF was ranked #2 / we got the "W"....seems like they were always being hyped, they beat some of the top teams (WVA ? / L'ville)....but they had FITS with us (I loved it).

I mean we had some GREAT games with USF - no doubt - but I never considered them a "rival" to be honest. Same with Cinci and 'Ville but that's just me!

Miss 'Ville and West Virginia - that's about it.....always enjoyed beating 'Cuse too, but I can live wtihout them.

Miss Pitt and WVU. I really miss WVU. It was always a big lead up week, even though we'd always lose.

They're all dead to me. PSU will be our best rivalry since Princeton if we start winning a few.

Outside of Wvu, there isn't a program worth a nano second. Empty stadiums, ESPN 3, lame fan bases...nothin thing to miss.


We are in the greatest conference with the best of everything. Enjoy it and don't look back.

Looking at the responses, they vary from not missing anyone to a selected few. I know what the OP means though and I think it is due to having a feeling of comfort of the known. In only our second year in the BIG, we have still not even come close to playing a lot of the other teams which is something we never experienced in the past so we are still in the unknown.
I came to enjoy beating the piss out of Cuse since I live in CNY and could go to all of the games. WVU was always a special week too.

Anyway, in a few years, we should have a better feel of the new conference and the memories of the past will be fading away.

I don't want to say I miss UConn, but I feel like they were the closest thing to one we had over the last 15 years or so. A lot of close games and a lot of hatred. If we ended up with the same thing with Maryland, I'd be okay.

Miami I miss only because we'd probably smoke them nowadays.
