If we win tonight, it puts us at 11-8. We have ties breakers over Indiana and Maryland. We would need to beat Northwestern on Sunday To get double bye and still might not make it. Michigan and State have tie breakers over us as do the Illini and Iowa. If we lose to NW margin of victory becomes the crucial determinant. Our road wins might come Into play as well as Quad wins. After margin of victory, the determinants get hairy.

Purdue seems to have won the regular season but have two tough games coming up. They are 1-3 over last four. Last nights games shows you anything can happen so we better come to play tonight because as bad as Minny‘ s record any team in this league can be lethal on a given night.

It'll depend on the pod. Official rules below.

I. Teams shall be seeded No. 1 through No. 14 in the tournament bracket based on the final regular-season Conference standings.

II. A team's seed shall correspond to its regular-season finish (i.e., the champion shall be the No. 1 seed, the runner-up the No. 2 seed, etc.).

III. Teams that finished Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the regular-season shall receive a "bye" through the first two rounds.

IV. In case of a tie for any place finish in the regular-season standings, the following tie-breaking procedure shall be followed in order to seed teams in the tournament bracket:

A. Two-team tie:

1. Results of head-to-head competition during the regular-season.

2. Each team's record vs. the team occupying the highest position in the final regular-season standings (or in the case of a tie for the championship, the next highest position in the regular-season standings), continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.

a. When arriving at another pair of tied teams while comparing records, use each team's record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to their own tie-breaking procedures), rather than the performance against the individual tied teams.

b. When comparing records against a single team or a group of teams, the higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the team or group are unequal (i.e., 2-0 is better than 3-1, but 2-0 is not better than 1-0).

3. Won-loss percentage of all Division I opponents.

4. Coin toss conducted by the Commissioner or designee.

B. Multiple team tie:

1. Results of head-to-head competition during the regular-season.

a. When comparing records against the tied teams, the team with the higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the team or group are unequal (i.e., 2-0 is better than 3-1, but 2-0 is not better than 1-0).

b. After the top team among the tied teams is determined, the second team is ranked by its record among the original tied teams, not the head-to-head record vs. the remaining team(s).

2. If the remaining teams are still tied, then each tied team's record shall be compared to the team occupying the highest position in the final regular-season standings, continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage.

a. When arriving at another pair of tied teams while comparing records, use each team's record against the collective tied teams as a group (prior to their own tie-breaking procedures), rather than the performance against the individual tied teams.

b. When comparing records against a single team or group of teams, the higher winning percentage shall prevail, even if the number of games played against the team or group are unequal (i.e., 2-0 is better than 3-1, but 2-0 is not better than 1-0).

3. Won-loss percentage of Division I opponents.

4. Coin toss conducted by Commissioner or designee.

Just use this link, someone posted it on premium, it solves ALL of the scenarios, just click the potential scenario for who wins the remaining games and it immediately sorts it out.

Bottom line is we need Michigan to lose one of the final 2 and we are capable of a Top 4, if we win the final 2 games.

Double bye talk is what will cause the overreaction on here if we lose to Minnesota. Nothing is guaranteed in the Big Ten. Putrid 2-win OSU just beat ranked #21 Maryland who was playing hot as anyone. LAST NIGHT. Not unrealistic to think then 1-win team couldn’t also win

And cannot tie Michigan State as they are only playing 19 games.
The Minnesota game is not being made up.

There are actually various scenarios where if Michigan wins both we get top four. That’s because they would finish 13 - 7 in second place and not then be in our pod of 12 - 8 which we win against other 12 - 8 teams.

Win both and we are very likely a top 4 seed in the BTT. I can only find a couple of combinations where we wouldn't get it.

Honestly I just want to avoid Iowa

Is the double bye so important? Many seem to be hyper focused on it.

For me it’s all about playing well entering the NCAA tournament.

I think for historical perspective and exposure for the program, finishing in the Top 4 with a double-bye, 2 years in a row, would be a significant accomplishment for RU.

I know it is not about exposure, but RU has not been broadcast on CBS sports, since forever in terms of College hoops. It is 1 game at a time, but finishing 3rd or 4th and potentially winning the quarterfinal game, locks RU into the a national broadcast on Saturday afternoon on CBS. I didn't feel like RU looked as comfortable as they probably should have been in MSG in the 1st half.

Getting 2 neutral site games and having one on the big national broadcast, would be extremely helpful, win or lose. This program is just missing that element in terms on reaching the national audience and the B1G broadcasts across a national channel, is a big deal.

The NCAAs solve itself and is a crapshoot. Anything can happen in a 1 game scenario, which is why it's the all-time best tournament in all of sports. But I have never connected the image built of a program that's sustainable, solely on a NCAA tournament run. There are way more instances where the conference tournament impacts recruiting and image of the program, that can be marketed and used as a bench mark.

Matchups to me are more important. I’d prefer to avoid Iowa and Michigan early and just see them if we get to final game.

The double bye is very helpful if we want to WIN the B1G Tourney. That would be a huge and historic achievement.

I can’t even remember when we were on a national CBS (channel 2) broadcast . Even the 89 and 91 tournament games were regional feeds.

Iowa won the B1G tourney last year and then lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Richmond. Playing 4 games back to back in the tournament probably hurt them just 4 days later against Richmond.

Did Iowa earn a huge achievement by winning the B1G tournament? Few remember that they won it.

Conference tournaments are important for single bid conferences. But I believe that conference tournaments are overrated for the major conferences. They are largely revenue generators for the conferences.

It’s important for 1 reason. Odds of playing a team that can harm you is basically 0. Nebraska or Minnesota could easily get hot 1 game and play you. You don’t want that

Winning a double bye would also be great so our BUS DRIVER can toot his horn from his earlier pronouncements that we would get a double bye this year. Keep that bus out on the road!

True. But ultimately, all RU can do is win it's games. And just keep winning.

While it doesn't matter what us fans think about or worry over, I hope the players are 100% focused on the next game, and then the next game after that, and so on. That way, if they don't lose a game, we win the conference. Easy. 🙂

BTW, I suppose it's a sign I might be spending way too much time on Pornhub (or wherever) that, at first glance, I read your board handle as "Ladyboy12007". Not that there's anything wrong with that. 😇

Maryland is awful on the road and weren’t even favored in Vegas by tip-off

Weren't we on CBS for the last game of a recent season? Either the Purdue (2020) or Minnesota (2021) games?
