Almost positive I saw a middle aged male and female flipping the bird to #21 with the blonde mop on his head as he turned around to the crowd after a made Minny bucket.

If so, you know who you are and grow the hell up. That’s straight up embarrassing.

I’m all for getting in kids heads with good clean fun but if your 40-50 years old and flipping the bird to a college student you have problems. Not to mention you will embarrass this university if caught on camera.

Honestly, I dont mind it. I personally would go with something verbal rather than a hand gesture though. Hand gestures get you tossed, that kid wouldve been so easy to verbally assault. Tellin him hes the ugly not good at basketball version of lamelo ball wouldve been my move

Agree100%-show some class.

I hear ya, theres enough things you can say to get in kids heads without using profanity. Im personally a master at it if i do say so myself

Creative heckling is great.
Even better is wearing your team's colors and being very loud in support and when the other team has the ball.

Booing the refs after bad calls is also good.

Call me a loser but I do my research before games. Ill look up like a bad loss these kids experienced in high school, and chirp them about that. I’ll look up and see some of their recent social media posts and quote that to them, the BEST is when theyre tweeting lame shit about being lonely and how a girl is givin them a hard time and just reciting their tweets to them word for word. It’s easy to get in these kids heads. The easiest way to do it, is to simply just literally repeat their own words and tell them truths

I'd call you a good fan.

Keep doing your homework and giving RU that little extra edge

There’s no reason to cross the line into someone’s personal life. I got heckled plenty in my day and it’s part of being an athlete and so I’ve dealt out my share as well.

I once rode BJ Surhoff so hard when he was playing LF at Yankee stadium that at the end of the game he gave me the bird. I was sort of proud at the time but now it’s something I’m more embarrassed about and realize I was just a drunken buffoon. I think a large part of my realization has to do with now being a father of two boys and seeing how they are affected by that kind of stuff when they go to games.

Using profanity shows not only lack of class but also a lack of respect for your fellow fans who might not want to hear it or even think it’s funny. Stalking someone’s social media crosses a line that while I appreciate on some level, isn’t really acceptable behavior if you’re no longer a student. If you’ve graduated and are in the “real world”, it’s actually a bit creepy.

Thank goodness someone came up with another reason to complain about the fans in section 112. I was afraid that everyone was a one trick pony. Number 21, Jerome Omersa, started with the section. If you sat there you would understand. I don’t necessarily condone profanity. But let’s not act like we are Puritans. I’m certain Jerome will be ok. I preferred to question him about his playing time. I have found (over the last 30 years) that such an approach is far more effective at shutting an opposing bench player’s mouth.

That is so childish and stupid.

Best of Luck,

You're not serious about about looking up their social media posts, are you?

I couldn’t care less about the kid or who “started it”.

Two 40 year olds flipping the bird to a college kid from the stands is a pathetic look and will embrarass this university nationally if they’re caught.

To me that’s really sick.

You would hate playing against me in anything competitive in that case. I’d be sure to have you wanting to take a swing at me within minutes

Yup. And if I’d just lost a child you could gain a real competitive edge.

How insanely creepy...yep, creepy is about the only word I can think of. Some old dude from another state trolling some barely post pubescent kids’ social media to get “inside their head”...WOW!

I sit in 113 and caught a glimpse of this. My first thought was "low class", but the player was smiling at them, and the couple kind of smiled back, so my second thought was "what an odd way to begin a friendship"

Clown comment. Clown clown comment

You do your “research” and god forbid a kid should be “lonely.” I can accept that you would hate me and that the feeling would be mutual.

Not weighing in on the good or bad of it, just mildly amused that we have gone away from complaining that the oldsters on the sidelines
Not being alive, to an over zealous act

I sat close to the floor in 113 for the Iowa game and was pretty surprised how ugly it gets down there. A few fans relentlessly harass the refs to the point of it being uncomfortable. I was sure that a couple of these fans would be tossed from the arena, but somehow they avoided it. One of the refs actually chirped back at one point, which was entertaining...lol

There are fans who actually believe that one person yelling stupid remarks gets inside a player’s head?

Yes, go to an aau tournament and youll see how much shit talking is apart of the culture of the sport. Some of you have never played even competitive pick-up ball and it shows. Cc: @zebnatto

Everyone is free to be a fan in whatever way they choose, provided they don't cross over the obvious boundaries.

An opponent saying something - sure. A large crowd chanting in unison - sure. One person in the stands on his own - no. You might annoy a player but you’re not going to affect his play.
