The option is alive and well, just ask VT and #25 App State.

Does NJ HS have many pure option teams among those that produce P5 talent?

Paul Johnson could recruit for the option here... not many P5 teams use that. The recruiting targets for option vs non-option teams don't overlap that much.. unless a QB can run AND throw... big demand for those in the days of RPO being king. But we might be able to get the best option pure QB in the land.

Even the OL is different as the truly HUGE OL cannot get down for cut blocks like an option-specific OL does. Not sure our current WRs can block.. they do have problems catching.. so that problem is not important in an option offense.

Can we win the Big Ten with an option? In 2014, undefeated FlaState beat GTech 37-35 in the ACC championship game.. so they came close. In 2009 Johnson-lead GTech won the ACC in his second year.. but the NCAA vacated that win for some reason.

GTech is 4-4 this year and may make a bowl game. In Johnson's previous 9 years they have been to 7 bowl games including 2 Orange Bowls and, oddly, the Sun Bowl in consecutive years.

So, I recommend we get Johnson if GTech boots him, switch to an option team and change our name to Mountaineers.
