Tv announcers awful

Rutgers is the only one I watched .
Just because other schools do a crappy job broadcasting there spring games doesn't mean we have too as well.

Just cause you think it's crappy...Doesn't mean it's crappy.

Again, this is pretty much the standard format for spring games...u don't like it, fine. But wouldn't say they do a crappy job.

Any negativity at EL is just wrong. He's not in the box cause he beat out Gus Johnson or Mike Tirico..we all know this

Let it go

Very true . Rutgers and this school owes him and he's great to have in the booth .
I am critical of the overall format the broadcast crew used .

Is it ? I am watching the Michigan state game right now . Seems like the announcers are talking about the roster, the game itself . Cut away to a live microphone on the head coach . It seems to be a lot different than our broadcast actually

I guess I don't understand your criticism then.

I actually thought EL was fine as a color commentator but yes....................there definitely should have been more focus on what was happening on the field. Carlin was terrible. From what I saw, this was not the case with the OSU and Michigan State games.

The side fluff interviews while the game was going on were worthless. You can do those any day of the week and they gave no information that wasn't already out there. I assume most people watching wanted their one chance in the Spring to see the players on the field and the fluff interviews took away from that.

This is a great thread if you are interested in pinpointing who our bitchiest fans are. These are the same guys that don't go to games either and just post on here the whole time about everything that you can second guess under the sun.

I disagree . Some people loved the format , some people hated it . No reason we can't have a discussion on it .

Yes , but still no reason for the constant talking and ignoring the game.

This is the exact Reason they are not talking about the game.

OUtside of calling big plays, the whole idea of the Spring Game being on TV is to promote and market the Athletics Department and the School. If you watch other Spring Games they do the same thing, and profile big name players for interviews etc....

They did an excellent job of that, and I had no problem with the broadcast.

Also To be fair, Chris Carlin is a professional play-by-play announcer and Sports TV personality on nationally syndicated TV and Radio programs so I don't know what else you would want.

True that you can do it any day of the week, but not on a Live Broadcast that will be replayed nationally on BTN to get your message out about your school and Athletics Programs.

Like the message about how Sanu thinks he would do in this offense if he were still playing ? It wasn't getting a message out, it was filler. Most fans watching the game were watching to see the players and plays they have been reading about all Spring but haven't gotten to actually see play.

Some people need a program when they go to a game, some people want a program when they go to a game , some people never buy a program. I'm in the latter group, but I needed a lot of help identifying players, knowing who was out there at a particular time and understanding why this team was different from all other teams (it was Passover after all). Instead of getting even a scintilla of program information, we got a book of ads.

While the other BTN spring game broadcasts followed a similar format, I learned much more about those teams than I did watching the RU broadcast. The broadcast had no focus and for that reason CC and EL were left to fill time with a lot of nonsense.

+1
Sorry, but it was awful.

Carlin and LeGrand don't choose the format of the broadcast. Anyway, maybe this pushes those complaining to show up next year which is a positive.

Hold on there Wipper Snapper! I've had season tickets since 2004 and have been going to games since the Anderson years. I couldn't make the spring game because my wife got sick and we have a farm with animals that need tending to. I thought the format of the broadcast sucked and wasn't suited for a spring game. Instead of enhancing the game it distracted from the game, the game should have been the main focus.

That makes me one of our bitchiest fans in your opinion?[eyeroll] Common, it's called a difference of opinion. You wanted an infomercial with cute little stories that cut away from the game and had nothing to do with the game being played. I wanted actual talk about the game, who was playing, talk of new schemes and a little about each player. In case you haven't noticed info about our team has been limited due to the media ban. This was our one chance to see the team for ourselves this spring.
