Epic beatdown at Wake Forest last night as the Deacons won their second ACC game of the year against the 0-for Fredos, 74-38. Good thing that Eli Carter hit a 3 from half court so they were only down 41-14 at the half. How could a bad team like Wake do that if they were missing two starters with injuries? Yeah, misery loves company.

"On Sunday, BC came out looking like a pick up team from a Tuesday night Y-league. The Eagles trailed 29-2. They were behind 37-4. They missed 20 of their first 21 shots including more then a few from less than 5 feet.

They missed shots, had shots blocked, turned the ball over and looked over matched in all phases–by a 1-13 team without two starters."

And that was written by former Boston Globe writer, Mark Blaudschun, a BC suck-up of the highest rank who attacks RU at every opportunity.

We lost by 50 to Purdue - they suck as bad as we do

I certainly would not say we are in better shape bball wise than they are, but one of life's great mysteries remains--why the hell was Swofford fixated on BCU when it came to expansion?

They add absolutely ZERO to both football and basketball. At least with us we have a fan base AND the massive media market. They have nothing, zero, zip , nada. They do not "bring" the Boston market either.

Anyway their demise in both sports was predictable and many of us said so 10 years ago.

Interesting how 1 bad football season is a demise.
Coupled with the 2 seasons at the end of Spaziani's tenure, and two mediocre seasons under Addazio, and where they were under O'Brien/Jagodzinski, it is.

BC has recovered from gambling scandals in its past. They'll recover from this too. The ACC might have some buyer's remorse but with Syracuse also in conference, they're not a fish out of water.

ACC had Syracuse as its prize and BC the road thereto.

Yea we're not them but we have lost recruits to them. Look at the guard Robinson who's going to be a pretty good 4yr guy.

I hate to break it to you but BC is a materially better team than RU this season if you look at the computer rankings. I like to look at the composite ranking published by Masseyratings which averages 35 or so various computer/polls. RU is a spectacularly bad 282 out 351 Div 1 schools. BC is 222 (I think the next worse in P6 conf) and SJU is 214. MINN is 169.

RU's best win is FDU (278, yep ranked higher than RU but statistically not material). Next best win is MASS Lowell (296, interestingly MA Lowell did beat BC!). BC's best wins are Fordham (173) and New Hampshire (212).

BC has two bad losses (worse as in loss to low ranking team, not in terms of point differential); MA Lowell (296) and Santa Clara (240). RU's lone bad loss is SJU (214). Illinois is 128 so I won't call them a bad loss for teams like RU and BC.

Not much to argue about really----no one covered themselves with glory this past Fall or this hoop season.

Let's see what happens going forward.

UMassLowell beat BC true but more than half of the BC player had been stricken with food poisoning the day before when they ate at Chipotle. This is not a joke.

True, we are not Boston College.

Press Release:

CHESTHUT HILL, Mass. -
Boston College Athletics Director Brad Bates announced plans today for three projects to enhance intercollegiate, intramural and club sports at Boston College: a recreational center, athletics playing fields, and an athletics field house.

The initiatives, an investment of approximately $200 million, result from a multi-year assessment and planning effort regarding BC Athletics, as well as focused fundraising with alumni and friends of Boston College.

The recreational center, a 240,000 square-foot facility that will replace the Flynn Recreation Complex and be located at the site of Edmonds Hall on Thomas More Drive, will benefit all BC students, faculty and staff. Approved by the City of Boston in 2009 as part of the University's Institutional Master Plan (IMP), the project will begin this summer after permits have been obtained. The center, made possible by a lead gift from Trustee Margot Connell and her family, will require two years for construction.

The University will also seek permitting for new baseball, softball and intramural fields on the Brighton Campus, which were also approved in the 2009 IMP.

Bates said that fundraising for both projects will continue throughout the process.

We have one of those to - so strange

Rutgers is committed to building championship contenders in the Big Ten. This commitment means the university must build premier training facilities for elite student-athletes from New Jersey, the nation, and around the globe.

To fulfill this objective, Rutgers Athletics is embarking on the Big Ten Build, a comprehensive campaign to raise $100 million for new or upgraded athletic facilities.

Phase I of the Big Ten Build, created in collaboration with the University Physical Master Plan, includes three projects: a Multisport Training Complex adjacent to the Rutgers Athletic Center (RAC), a Lacrosse, Soccer and Tennis Training Complex, and an enhanced Football Training Complex, at the Hale Center. These pivotal projects will result in additional square feet of critical training space and will have a dramatic and wide-ranging impact on all 24 Rutgers athletic programs and on the 600 student-athletes who represent Rutgers on a national stage.

The Big Ten Build will provide state-of-the-art practice centers for men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, volleyball, and gymnastics, as well as key support areas for football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer and tennis.

These facilities will meet a crucial need for high-performance training, exceptional academic support, first-class sports medicine, and critical shared pathways that will support a championship culture at Rutgers.

Not much for varsity sports here. This is basically a new rec center for the princes and princesses that attend BC while their parents are wacked for $61,600 a year for cost of attendance. Hey, tuition is over $46,000 a year so I shouldn't ever have to wait for an elliptical, damn it.

The baseball and softball programs will get facilities, but nothing for football or hoops.

Maybe they don't really need anything for those guys right now?

I mean both Alumni Stadium and the Conte Forum are not too shabby for what they are.

I love this thread. Suggestion a steel
Cage match next year for both the basketball & football teams. Maybe BC can be one of the teams in the RU hosted bball tourney.

It always amazes me that we who live THE glass house of D-1 hoops have so many stone throwers. BC is bad this year, to be sure, but they have been to 6 NCAA tournaments and have 6 20-win seasons in the Millenium, and thus at least has some level of tradition to sell. why they fired Sknnier, who won 60% of his games in two very tough conferences, I will never know.

I wouldn't want to get into a pissing match with anyone when it comes to men's basketball.
