With the early season success when do we start to see the social media buzz around campus?

Not expecting a sellout against Niagara by any means but it would be nice to see a little more youth in the stands.

Will be fun to see the RAC becoming "THE RAC" again.

What say you, @higgins3, can you get the word out?

How do you See social medi buzz around a campus ? Monitors of Facebook and Twitter are up?

But I do think the students will be into it if we continue to win. It doesn't look like we have a big game at the rac for a while. Miami would have been a good barometer if at home .

I thought @higgins3 was a student and he might have a pulse on the situation....are people talking about it, are they going, etc.

The students will not come until we show we can beat real teams..25 years of failure has done lasting damage. Can't just instantly turn that around
I don't think it will be an instant thing either but maybe in this new age of ultra fast communication we end up getting more sooner than later.

I think he meant that you don't see a social media buzz around campus. You see it online.
Well that's what I meant as my talking comment didn't mean face to face (since nobody of a certain age seems to be doing that anymore) but the back and forth online. That kind of "talking".

I don't think it'd take 4 years..just next year or the year after, assuming we're somewhere around a 13-17 win team this year

eh disagree. When I was in school 10-13 the RAC rocked for some big east games and was packed. I think we'll have a lively student section after winter break

I think if we start off 6-0 and then win at Miami to go 7-0, I think we'll get a good crowd (6,000+) at our following home game (Dec. 3). Yeah, I know it's Morgan State, but it's the only Saturday night game of the season, and as history has proven, Saturday night games at the RAC are well attended.

I can't argue with that. This is why I've called on Pat Hobbs to do some aggressive promos to get students to the game. Free t-shirts, free pizzas, free gift cards in a lottery - I don't care what. If this team can get the old RAC atmosphere behind it, then it might just be able to pull off a couple of upsets. The time is now to double-down on the investment made with this staff by getting students to the game!

your ideas are creative and seek a positive goal - but I don't think we should ever bribe our students with gifts and giveaways. Its not the reason why we want them to the game, right?
Just treat our students right, treat them like its their program they are watching. Those are their classmates on the floor and they should root hard for them simply because of that.
But yes, we need to pack the RAC

I hear you. But, Given our history, I would bribe them to get them to experience their first game -- as a loss leader. After that, it's up to the team to get them to come back with their effort and exciting play.

When this stuff was started a few years ago there were plenty on here who complained about it..."too minor league baseball-like" was one I remember being used.

And it was done because the product on the court warranted it.

I say this stuff is still needed but now even with just 3 games played it will make Marketing's job easier because if what's happening on the hardwood instead of what's being given out in the stands.

first game they always show, 2nd game, it was empty. Generally they dont come out until the conference season opens and unfortunately I dont see them showing for Penn State or coming during break for Northwestern so I dont expect a full student section until after winter break is over in later January. I just do not see them coming for sisters of the poor games no matter what our record is. Too many years of seeing this even with decent starts.

I do hope that Hobbs is not only saying go to the football game but spending time telling them to come to hoops games

We had Wensicles in 1989. Maybe we need to see some Pikesicles in the student section and elsewhere. This would get the following increased just by seeing this on TV as well as at the games.

Call it "Pike's Peak" for the upper rows. And make it the cool place to be.
