2018 Wrestling News

This Rider dual scares me. It has lock haven written all over it. We have nothing to gain and everything to lose. This is the little brother (rider) with a shot at big brother. Big brother (Rutgers) better come to fight.
Would BTN televise that? If not could FS1 (or someone else) televise since both teams aren't B1G?

Hmmm, tough choice. Hell or Wrestling match. Hell or Wrestling Match. O what the heck I'm probably going to Hell anyway so I'll take the wrestling match.
Tennessee allows hunting on Sunday. On more than one occasion when I lived there, I would tell friends who were going to church, while I was going hunting, "God is out in the woods, too."

And, I'll bet anything, He's a wrestling fan.

This one time my wife asked me to go to church with her I said," But hunny, I have to work on the farm today. God's creation and creature's need tending to. So in essence, I'm closer to God than you are while your sitting in that man made structure." That was one of my better excuses and got a laugh from the Pastor as my wife told everyone in church.

Good article. Looks like NC State is the biggest threat. Have to keep the pressure on. Anderson is a special talent.

Wow. Aragona might be our biggest 'stud' recruit since Ashnault. (Discounting Suriano since he transferred in.) Also, from my understanding - we are looking good for Anderson.

I forget his exact ranking, but Glasgow was pretty high. Top 5 or so at his weight.

Glasgow committed to Rutgers in October 2016, when he was ranked No. 5 nationally at 152 pounds by FloWrestling. On the heels of a Top 10-rated 2016 recruiting class, Glasgow gave Rutgers arguably its most prized high school prospect since landing Anthony Ashnault in 2013.”

That's why I laughed at the Wrestle Stat website listing Glasgow as #160 in the nation at 165. It's a nice website but definitely flawed as the algorithm doesn't factor in until several matches are wrestled.

He finished 3rd at his weight and 23rd overall.

It’s not flawed it’s working exactly like it should. You say “the algorithm doesn’t factor in until several matches are wrestled” what exactly should the algorithm factor in prior to the wrestler having any D1 matches? He is ranked the exact same as every other true freshman at 165 pounds. I can understand if you have a problem with an established guy being too high or too low but a guy with no matches, come on now.

Lol

18 minutes till Schultz wrestled in match 3 of the Greco Junior WT. He split the first 2 matches.

Ash will be with the fellowship athletes traveling to Zkazastan, Usbekastan, etc with guys like Seth Gross and other wrestling. I think we have a very good chance to land Anderson, Cardenas of BC and Schultz!

Would be great. That is a game changing recruiting class if we get it done. Like the kind of class that makes a move into the top ten possible. I have been saying for a long time, better recruiting is the only way to get to where we all want to be. We simply have not been doing it at a high enough level. Great to see the change coming.

That would be #2, #11, #12 and #16 from Flo’s rankings of the 2019 class. Would be incredible. Lots of good things happening for the program right now. Anyone know if we are recruiting 184lber Jake Logan from New Rochelle? Don’t know that much about him but he is pretty highly ranked and right in our backyard.

Aragona/Glasgow training with Anderson (Ashnault in the SKWC training/mentoring)
Seems to be a solid recipe for success in the middleweights

Cardenas/Shultz would set up the upper weights.
I know Wing was mentioning there might be a potential upper weight training partner. I saw Schultz competing with NYAC, does that gives us a bit of advantage our closeness to the club? I am not sure where that club is based out of. I am already excited for next November!!!

That's great news. When are we going to find out from them? Is there a timeline for Yes or No from them?

We're finally able to offer a lot more. Just like the big boys. Think about it Cabbage, never in the history of Rutgers wrestling have they been able to offer what others have. Full allotment of scholarships, check. Multiple AA's a year, check. Wrestling top notch competition, check. Finally a new training center, check. The SKWC although still lacking in funds but getting better, check. The new regional training center being able to supplement SKWC shortfalls, check. A top 5 atmosphere to wrestle in, check. Are all these aspects the pinnacle of collegiate wrestling, no, there's still lots of room for improvement. But just think back 12 yrs. ago and what we could offer.

Just think Malcolm Robinson working with Glasgow and Ashnault in the room. He has to get better with those training partners.

Slick Rick Thompson just named Coach of Bethlehem Catholic.
I’m so old I saw Slick wrestle at Pburg and win 2 State Titles, lol. As a Hackettstown alum I was thrilled to watch Thompson bring Hackettstown to some nice seasons. Of course he went back to Pburg and took Garriques with him, lol.
Good luck Rick!

Amateur Wrestling News - June 15 - lists Ryan Anderson as a Rutgers commitment

WNG - is it true ? haven't seen a Boom

Do you think Cardenas could wrestle 197 throughout college ?

Steiber, Dake and Taylor added to the world team last night at Final X, along with Adeline Gray, Mallory Velte and Erin Clodgo.

It was a great night of wrestling with about 3500 in attendance, many of whom probably thought they would never see DT wrestle live again, after he graduated. Dake and Valencia was worth the price of admission, with Valencia's nonstop action and Dake's brick wall defense.

If you can make it to Lehigh this weekend, I recommend going.

Cornell is very much in the running for Cardenas. I would hold off making any predictions about him at this time. Yes, he will be a 197 in college. Great kid, great prospect.

Saying we have a good chance (WNG) is a lot different than predicting he will be a scarlet knight. Cornell is an amazing academic school and has a rich wrestling history.
I wish Cardenas the best in whatever road he chooses. Of course I want him at RU but if not RU, Cornell is a great choice for him (Plus it keeps him away from the B10).
