The last thing I bashed from here on BWI was Ban Basketball. Before that, I can't tell you the last thing I bashed anywhere about RU. In fact, I've even questioned Matter over there about the amount that he bashes you guys. I don't get his obsession.
Matter has an unhealthy obsession. He'll just throw a bunch of ish at the wall and see what sticks. Has zero regard for accuracy or intellectual integrity when it comes to his opinions on Rutgers.

I enjoy watching great wrestlers and watching Nolf, Cenzo, Hall, Nickal and Cassar was a treat. Wish we had them. I laughed when Mason Manville came out instead of Rasheed. Can you guys shed some light? Carl ducking Myles Martin? Rasheed hurt? Remember when Manville was transferring to RU rumor? Laughed my ass off.
Very much looking forward to Cassar vs. Steveson. I know Cassar lost to White from OSU, but I still think if anyone is going to knock off Gable it's definitely him.

Rasheed was hurt prior to the Michigan match, wore a large brace for that match, and was seen limping off afterwards. Plus, he really didn't wrestle his normal match for Michigan, either. Very hesitant.

Why would a #2 duck a #1? Because he might lose and get a worse seed? The only guy that has something to lose in that scenario is the #1 guy, right?

Manville is a trooper. He has filled in three times for starters, against #2 Evan Wick, #9 Tayler Venz and now #1 Myles Martin. The latter two were both up at 184. I really thought Martin would tech or pin him, particularly because Manville weighed in at 174, so he was giving up 10 pounds to the #1 guy.

Yeah, Manville to anywhere else is a stretch. Besides the fact that he appears to love PSU, he is attending on an Army ROTC scholly. My middle son was a PSU Naval ROTC kid, so I know enough about ROTC to say that asking for a sports transfer is one thing, but asking the Army to transfer your scholarship to a different school is something entirely different.

If you compare the White match to every other one of his matches this year, you will see he wrestled that one differently. He was tentative and defensive. I really hope to see Cassar and Steveson at B1G.

I'm going to throw this out here. I know it's off topic, and I've started it several times, but stopped because I didn't think it would be appropriate. But, I'm just going to do it.

Was anyone on here affected by the Marcal/Soundview fire? I've spent a lot of time in that place over the last few years, and have quite a few friends/acquaintances there. I know the reach of that size of an employer goes beyond just the direct job losses, and I hope you all weren't affected, despite our rooting interest differences.

Totally. With the Cael and Co. braintrust I'm pretty confident they wil make the necessary adjustments if/when he wrestles White again.

Pa
I was not suggesting Cael was ducking Myles which is why I asked if Rasheed was hurt.

Let’s gooooo, Rivera! Gutsy but I’d be worried about injury up a weight close to NCAAs.

Go RU!
Diane

Micic controlling the match in every aspect. Gotta give it to Rivera though putting it on the line and going after the best competition.

Totally. Ballsy.

Glad didn’t get the 2 at end. Makes me feel better about Suriano not getting his 2.

Also, thank goodness no injury!

Go RU!

Well the “facts is facts” argument is tiring and if a message board is meant for both a subjective and objective viewpoint it’s impossible to maintain logic with him. His display of alternative facts is quite impressive. For that I give Matter credit.

I’m from the town where marcal was located - thanks for the concern , it was the craziest fire I’ve ever seen.
The employee base was pretty diverse and was made up of people from all different towns, so the labor hit for right around the factory itself was not very large.
Used to be a solid wrestling town in its day.

I've seen a lot of the videos, news feeds, etc, plus talked to our sales rep for the mill. It really was unbelievable. I don't have a whole lot of hope that the paper machines will ever start back up. Based on the condos going up right down the street, it seems that property is probably too valuable to rebuild a paper mill.

As far as the diversity of the workers, you ain't kidding. I've had conversations with people from all kinds of family backgrounds right in those control rooms. Good people.

On News 12 they actually talked to one of the workers who wasn't on shift at the time. She said they had their own fire brigade as the paper dust was so combustible that a simple spark would start a fire. She said they would always be able to catch them, but this one must have started in a shut down part of the plant as workers were constantly vigilante for flare ups.

Lower level seat for Michigan Match sold out, only a few singles in the 200 level available, plenty way up in the 300s. Looking like a crowd of approx. 6,000 so far.

https://ev12.evenue.net/cgi-bin/nco...nkID=rutgers&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode=

Stubhub has a better selection, some at good prices.
https://www.stubhub.com/rutgers-sca...rac-2-17-2019/event/103909678/?sort=price+asc

Stubhub also shows 1 tickets in 104 for $35. Excellent seat for a good price. Also shows some others in 104 for $80 each.

With 2020 being an Olympic year, discussions are starting about potential Olympic redshirts. Does Suriano have Olympic aspirations? Might he take an Oly shirt, assuming he qualifies for one? It only takes a top three at NCAA, which should be a given.

Shayne van ness only sophmore. Stud. Must get for Goodale.

Not a must get for Goodale, but a must get for The Program. Goodale is a piece to this puzzle.

But absolutely- we need to start consistently adding pieces at the level of suriano and Ashnault

I think we get SVN, and Wask the year after. Both have strong ties to RU. A Blair to RU pipeline is realistic folks. We’re always leary about getting excited for Rutgers sports, but wrestling is different. The rabid NJ wrestling fans may put us over the top. We’re a top 4 program in terms of attendance, consistently top 20 overall, have a head coach who actually knows what he’s doing, an assistant who’s a multiple-time national champ, and a state-of-the-art practice facility on the way. Yes, the big boys will always be tough to hold off, but that’s the case for everyone...even the other big boys. No other Rutgers program is nearly as attractive as the wrestling program. If Ash or NS gets a natty this year, that upward momentum will only get stronger. And I know, being a Rutgers fan doesn’t allow you to get greedy, but let yourself winder for just a second...what if both of them do it?

The downside to coaching youth wrestling and having a child in the program... I will miss this match as well with the Central Jersey JV end of year tournament Sunday. However, when the Suriano match is up, unless my boy is wrestling, find another coach because I’ll be watching FLO on my iPad [banana].

My most desired matchups at B10's

1) Austin DeSanto vs Nick Suriano (I think Nick takes this 7-4)
2) Ashnault vs Jordan (Ashnault takes this 8-3)
3) Any other match up where a RU beats an Iowa wrestler

I don't think he's big enough to beat Goblee. If I had to predict who I think has the best chance of beating him it's Dhesi from Oregon State.

I hope someone beats him and brings him down to earth, as he's a present jerk who will only get worse if he isn't beaten this year.

Dhesi was beat up by Mason Parris of Michigan. Not sure that is going to happen.

Not Suriano and Rivera?

Different weight classes. Rivera vs Lee at 125 will be the Final. That's a good one.

At 133 We will most likely see Suriano vs either DeSanto or Micic in semifinal , depending on if Suriano wins on Sunday. The Final will be great no matter who is in it.

Cassar vs Stoll at 285 will be a good one.

149- Ashnault vs Micah Jordan is a probable final

157- Nolf vs Berger is a good one

165- Vincenzo vs Marinelli is very good final

If any other RU wrestler other than Suriano or Ashnault even get to a Semi Final, that means one of our other guys upset someone.

Nolf and Berger ain’t gonna be a close one at all ....Nolf in class by himself

So, he could take a regular redshirt and an Olympic redshirt, if he wants? My question is whether he will take one next year for the Olympics?

Suriano still has his redshirt available....He has NOT qualified for an Olympic Redshirt(he still could but would need to meet the criteria from below). Just a guess since Nick has not really wrestled any freestyle in his career that he will not redshirt to try and qualify. Here is the qualifications for an Olympic redshirt.
  1. Past national team members (top three from the World or Olympic Team Trials)
  2. Top eight at the 2019 Senior U.S. Open
  3. Top three at the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championship; or NCAA champion from a previous year AND top two from the 2019 U23 World Team Trials (must accomplish both).
  4. Previous Cadet, Junior, U23 world medalist

Thankfully, I'm sending my JV coaches.

I doubt he will too, but he could take an Olympic redshirt by placing top 3 at nationals, even if he doesn't really try to qualify. And he still has his regular redshirt, if he wants as well.
