No one under the age of probably 60 GAS that with play Princeton.

It's not a rivalry. I'm sorry. No one on either side cares.

Its not 1960-1970 anymore.

Princeton fans themselves do not GAS as they have a couple hundred people in attendance today.

These games have no upside for us and nothing but downside.

Not complicated. Stop scheduling them.

I would agree with you but look around our stands….it’s all really old people as our fanbase still holding out hope that we will be at least a winning season. It’s similar to them being so happy with reaching a bowl game in football. It’s truly the reality of our culture. It’s MISERABLE

im convinced the bar he is so low...i get it RU didnt go to the ncaa for 30 years...i was a student when we made 2 89-92. Pike got us there as a first 4 and a 10 seed. and now has dropped off heading toward 3 straight and cant get it done with nba starts...well how can anyone be optimistic now...yet i still see some have blind faith for this season I dont know what they base it on because obviously they are not watching what is happening every game

As someone who is 34, why was this even a rivalry in the 1960s-1970s? Even back then it wouldn’t have made sense. Was it a holdover from football back in the first half of the 20th century?

They base it on 30 years of loser basketball and say well shucks it could be worse. They might not be wrong either. Idk anymore although we have a top 10 home court advantage and a great practice facility in a great conference....that has to put wind behind your sails in recruiting.

Bad take that’s a tournament team we just lost to. NET aside if we’re on the bubble and Princeton wins the Ivy this game isn’t even looked at one way or another. Sorry PT but keep your takes to football.

Princeton was THE rivalry for more than 100 years. Have you heard of The Birthplace game? The tigers were usually our toughest opponent in BB and FB. Both schools were all male colleges back then. Princeton weekend for a home FB game was a zoo.

Well, we’re 7-5 right now because Coach is an abomination on the road or in neutral site games during OOC play. Not that it matters because we won’t be on the bubble, but coach continues to make the same damn scheduling mistakes. Anyone who says otherwise is just being stubborn

I know at one point it was like that, but in the 60s/70s still?

Do you hear yourself right now? You're banking on this game not hurting us IF Princeton wins their conference.

This game is so stupid to play. 5 of 6 we have lost and we keep going back to the well for more....why? There is no hostility at this game and their own fanbase does not even care enough to show up.

No one cares anymore. This game never has any juice to it and one fanbase does not even come to it.

If Rutgers played Harvard instead in the first football game, would we even be playing these games against Princeton? We don’t play Monmouth at neutral sites

you are dating yourself.....no one cares about this game..u know why? because Princeton had 500 fans there, they had 50 fans last year 15 miles away in Trenton. They have no sent fans to the rac since the mid 90s...thats almost 30 years ago.

The rivalry was still big when i was in school in the late 80s and early 90s but by the late 90s it was done when RU entered the Big East. Serves no purpose and by and large we take it up the ass from Princeton whether we should be tougher and winning or not...nothing to gain from playing them

Maybe we should start because that's the level of silliness our alums are stooping too.

If we play Monmouth at Met Life people would go batshit crazy over it.

But playing Princeton neutral site. Ah that's so great! Let's pretend it 1950s and Eisenhower is President.

It’s not complicated. Princeton shows up consistently in the tourney and beats excellent teams. Yet you get no credit for beating them. This is literally the definition of high risk low reward except it’s zero reward. Playing this game makes no sense whatsoever.

Until this season, he’s been afraid to play anyone with a pulse OOC, Then, this year, with his weakest team in years, he goes to Vegas (which I loved that he did), and plays at Kennesaw State in a no reward, high risk game. It won’t matter, as we won’t be on he bubble but it’s mind-boggling. He had way stronger teams and was scared sh*tless to play in a holiday tournament in years past.

and even those teams would throw turkeys up in non conference play...the program cannot get out of its own way and living life like you aspire to be a bubble team every year doesnt indicate to me the program is on sure footing

I think this game should be played but I also agree that we shouldn't be playing them while PIke is coach. His teams clearly struggle against well coached teams.

That said, I thought this game was a blast and I watched it from home. I've totally given up on the NCAA's, so I'm just trying to enjoy watching Dylan while he's here. I'm also enjoying the fast paced style of play because I know what's coming back next season is the 45 point a game grind. I'm glad that helps us win, but it's brutal to watch after seeing real offense.

We have two lottery picks. If we can't easily blow out Ivy League teams, that's nobody's fault other than the coaching staff.

I would like to continue playing Princeton, but only if we play at the RAC and Jadwin. Those games would have juice, not playing games at Trenton (which sucks) or Pru (which is a nice arena but lifeless for college basketball). If you want tradition, play the damn games ON CAMPUS. Otherwise, just cancel the series until the teams agree to that.

I was there. I don't think I would be able to count more than 100 orange shirts in a sea of 10000 red ones. Beyond stupid to keep scheduling this.

No. Wrong again.

They can play at the RAC like FDU, NJIT, Monmouth. We are not their equal, not even close and need to stop bending over for them. I don't get it. Stop with the stupidity!
