Cheapskates better not sell out again for PSU

How are going to know that a buyer is a Rutgers fan?? And only the OP and a few others think its a good idea to throw other peoples money down the toilet.
I guess the collective could eat the tix unless they know who they're selling or giving them to, since keeping them out of the hands of opponents' fans would be the collective's primary goal. But the post was written half tongue in cheek.

So at the end of the day, we have a lot of fans (many in this thread) who are super cheap and will do whatever they need to for a hundred bucks. Cool.

That said, you can't blame them as the product in the field continues to be hot garbage.

There's not much to debate here IMO.

Super cheap? Or super smart with their money?

I was one of the polite Michigan fans (but definitely saw a few obnoxious ones). Anytime you have a group of thousands there will be a few bad apples. I apologize for them.

I think you guys are underestimating just how many Michigan alums are in NY/NJ area who absolutely love the fact that we can now see our team locally every other year.

Just curious. Do you guys go to the Maryland game?

I’ve been trying to buy a yellow lot on this site for the PSU game for a couple weeks and nothing. Assume all will be sold to highest PSU bidders on StubHub.

You do know anyone can buy a parking pass on StubHub, not just opposing fans base. Jump on and get one yourself and beat the PSU nuts to it.

Play meaningful games and Rutgers fans will be there. It’s been a while since there’s been a meaningful game in the stadium or a team worth watching.
There have been some this year. Nobody likes to enjoy the climb. A lot of people cash in and wait until we r good. This is still year 3 people. Unfortunate. Find a neutral or small RU fan to sell or even give them to

Well then who wants to buy my state penn tickets? I’d rather sell to a Rutgers fan.

The initial purchaser of a yellow lot pass has to pay an oxymoronic "required donation" of $1,000, in addition to the face value of $50 per game or whatever. If that person sells you that pass as face value via the Ticket Exchange Board, he is taking a major loss. The StubHub prices are a much closer approximation of the true cost of the pass.

Savvy RU fans will bundle the parking pass with four tickets. That’s why the Black lot was swarming with Michigan fans many hours before kickoff.

It's 6 Saturdays/Friday in the Fall.

You know the dates way beforehand and usually the time.

You also know, for the most part at this present time, the outcome.

The only variable I can think of is the weather. So far, for this year, not an issue.

Things happen, I know (family stuff, work related, etc.) but you are, or you aren't.

At this stage I am and have been all allong.

Bullship. Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana even Maryland has or has had the same issues with a lot of opposing fans. Michigan before Harbaugh did too. When your good locals come out, when you are bad it's an opportunity for the other fans to come. You and the OP love to bash our fanbase and absolutely love to tell people how to spend their money. Ridiculous! How about you and the OP go buy up all the tickets on StubHub and then sell them to Rutgers fans only. Otherwise STFU and stay out of people's finances issues.

Please show the pics of Michigan Stadium looking like our west sideline.

Again good for you if your salary is in the top 10% in P5 average. Mine, and others I know…don’t come near that.

so yes, while I make enough to live fine…I do appreciate the extra $200

I’ve been eating tickets for 20 years. And agree my years haven’t been broken. There’s a BIG gap between that and not appreciating an extra $200

You're older than me and have mentioned what you do before. I absolutely do not believe $200 makes or breaks you. If it does, I am not sure how you're affording tickets, parking and concessions in the first place honestly.

Maybe our fans who are upset with RU ticket holders selling tickets that end up in the hands of opposing fans should start a ticket collective like the NIL collectives, to buy up unwanted RU tickets so the other teams' fans can't get them. And that way the voluntary contributors to the collective could eat the tix if they can't use them or give/sell them to other RU fans, since many seem to agree that intentionally taking the financial loss is a worthwhile sacrifice...

Why can't our fans just be more like Nebraska fans and just show up even when the team isn't meeting expectations? It's typically worse weather there, it's a less wealthy state, somehow they manage.

Unless some big donors shell out we're screwed with the NIL given our fans, who in the off season are plotting yachting St, Tropez and in the fall just have to sell to opposing fans to put food on the table.

It's this easy. And they also know the cost of the tickets, parking, the day otherwise. Barring a job loss or some kind of financial emergency, selling to opposing fans means you're not.

Though it will be fun to remember the names the next time people talk about NIL. Or better yet the threads asking for advice on vacations, cars, nice dinners out...

Gotta call out the West sideline season ticket holders - horrible sell out. East side did really well - just a smattering of Yellow/Blue - not much different then any home game,

Students did great once again.
Agreed. I'm in 103 and I was definitely the minority wearing red. It had to be 75% UM.

So you and the OP want people that have conflicts on certain Saturdays to not even buy season tickets???? That way they can't sell them through StubHub?

My opinion on this is that NJ located sports teams face certain challenges in terms of fan support that may not exist in other places.

NJ is a Professional sports dominated area with at least 15 Professional Sports Teams/Venues within ~2 hours of most NJ Residents all competing for fan attention (Giants, Jets, Eagles, Yankees, Mets, Phillies, Knicks, Nets, Sixers, Rangers, Devils, Islanders, Flyers, Red Bulls, NYCFC). IMO most fans in this area have a professional mindset which does not include the donations and giving part which is necessary for competing in sustainable way as a college program.

NY & Philly Media are not really interested nor vetted in propagating or covering Rutgers sports at a high level unless we are winning significantly. NJ Media is can be either overly negative or non-existent.

Rutgers does not have the historical anchor or success in Football that other programs such as Nebraska can draw on family or traditional support

Higher Income families in NJ - who might bring forth a more substantial donor base - do not typically view Rutgers as the first choice when it comes to college options for their children.

Crowd attendance at games (in general) is becoming more challenging for any team or program given better viewing technology and accessibility at home, less interest from younger generations and higher costs for tickets/parking/concessions etc.

We're kind of in a Catch 22. Need to win to draw interest.......but also need to draw interest to help build a winning atmosphere.

This all sounds reasonable.

So explain how Kansas and Illinois have arrived so quickly in FB, yet RU continues to struggle. Could it be coaching?

Bret didn’t take over a disaster program. Illinois was a bowl team in 2019.

And neither of them are lighting it up on attendance either. Big crowd here and there but…

never did I say $200 makes or breaks me. Please quote my post you think says that…

you have to know the difference between me “appreciating” $200 and $200 “making or breaking” me.

You have to know that difference…

if you don’t understand the difference than there’s frankly not a need to continue this discussion.

Put it like this

If you appreciate $200 versus a stadium packed w/ RU fans, then you are not a real fan.

I don't disagree with the issues as you've outlined.

My issue is the season ticket holders who compound them.

Michigan has a separate alumni association chapter just for Northern NJ. They apparently market the game to their local alumni and, while I didn't walk down there, supposedly had their own tailgate for their alums by the intramural fields and they could purchase tickets for along with passes for the black lot. Did anyone see what their setup was like? Does Rutgers make similar efforts for some of the other Big Ten stadiums? I doubt there are enough alumni in places like Iowa and Nebraska, but what about Penn State, Maryland, Northwestern, etc.?

20 year season ticket holder but not a real fan….sigh. This place makes me laugh, lol

why is it one or the other? Can’t I appreciate both?

i have no clue who bought my tickets. The last few times I’ve put on stubhub rutgers fans bought (I knew that since other members of my group went).

no members of my group went this time so I have no clue. And I have no control

I wonder how many of these loudmouths actually have tickets..
