Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers Football vs. Michigan State

Their backup, freshman QB has 2 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD, 0 INT, and is 17 for 25 passing

Our seasoned captain is 9 for 19 with 0 TDs and 2 INTs
Rutgers always had problems stopping back up QBs from looking like stars.
As for RU QBs, few and far between having ones to brag about.
Wimsatt's passing skills makes one feel Rutgers needs to go to the Wishbone

We have to start accepting the fact Wimsatt is not anywhere near what we needed him to be.
We can definitely see the flashes.

But I’d rather have a guy who can consistently make short to medium passes.

Evan Simon 2023 stats:

2/3
30 yards
1 TD
0 INTs

He went in and threw a TD against Wisconsin Defense. Isn’t it time to give him a shot?

I know this would probably cause the "to be avoided at all costs QB controversy" to rear its ugly head, but I think it's time for Simon to come in for the rest of the game...and perhaps the rest of the season. (Though I'm sure that last part won't happen.)

Not saying ES is a world beater, but at least he seems to be able to throw the ball TO a receiver, which would be a nice change for the better.

Facts. Wimsatt was a 4 star recruit, Houser for MSU was a 4 star. One of them looks like their ranking is actually accurate. Wimsatt needs to better to beat Big Ten teams.

Michigan State is supposed to be a troubled team yet they come to Piscataway on Homecoming Day in pouring rain and completely dominate the game .Its beyond embarrassing because next season might be even worse with the addition of the four west coast teams that have far superior talent compared to Rutgers. There is no place to hide in the B1G Ten.

Whoa, a Melton sighting.

MSU did not expect #16 to be any sort of threat.

Good call, I guess..?

Agreed but if Evan Simon only had two plays after Simon was knocked loopy on a head shot, Simon will never see legit playing time at Rutgers

When your offense sucks and it's vexing you.
When the officiating is making you blue.

That’s why we need to extend Schiano now. He clearly needs more time.

Basically, what we have learned is Rutgers can only win games where their OL is significantly better than the opponent's DL.
This allows for a vanilla run game to be effective and that is the only thing they can do.

Any other scenario and there is zero offense.

This was a make or break it game, looks like the program went for the broke today and the HC and QB are just not as good as hoped for.
I'm not going to defend Greg anymore if this game keeps going the way i is and no matter how bad the refs are , the coaching staff is to blame for the way game looks
