An unlucky day for half the teams that played. (And a lot of teams played.)

By the way, the new 4-quarter thing seems to have really messed up the Yahoo! box scores.

Big Ten

#2 South Carolina 88 #6 Ohio State 80 - Wilson with 20 and 14 for the Gamecocks
Penn State 86 Holy Cross 82 OT - hmm, and at PSU to boot
Minnesota 98 Wofford 54 - Golden Gophers set a record for most 3-pointers
Illinois 67 Chicago State 36 - 30 turnovers for the Cougars
Iowa 83 North Dakota 61 - 5 Hawkeyes in double figures
Indiana 88 Tennessee State 56 - 50-14 at the half

Other RU opponents

Seton Hall 93 Bryant 57 - Pirates shot exactly 50%
Temple 97 Florida 91 - not much defense
UCLA 73 St. John's 58 - Canada had 23 for the Bruins
Tulane 69 Arkansas Little Rock 53 - 11 Green Wave players scored
Virginia 70 Middle Tennessee 66 - maybe a good win for the Cavs
Wisconsin Green Bay 72 Marquette 55 - not exactly an upset
Arkansas 97 Southeastern Louisiana 53 - 5 Ladybacks in double figures
Stony Brook 58 Iona 53 - Gaels' Lizarazu led all scorers with 24 points
Savannah State 101 Columbia College 34 - not actually the worst beating of the day
Wake Forest 60 Louisiana State 57 - that's a surprise

Other ranked teams

#5 Baylor 62 Texas Arlington 20 - probably over before it started
#10 Oregon State 49 Longwood 19 2nd quarter - was close early
#11 Mississippi State 68 Samford 47 - 11 Bulldogs scored, none with more than 13
#13 Texas A&M 87 Texas State 50 - 4 Aggies in double figures
#14 Duke 57 Pennsylvania 50 - closer than I would have guessed
#16 Stanford @ California Davis - just getting started
#17 Oklahoma 78 Winthrop 48 - 1st round of WNIT
#18 Kentucky 72 Rice 39 - Akhator led the Wildcats with 16 and 17
#20 South Florida 74 Jacksonville 52 - if the Yahoo! box is right, started 14-0
Gardner-Webb 66 #22 North Carolina 65 - really?*
#23 Syracuse 57 Rhode Island 54 - hmm
#25 Chattanooga 68 McNeese State 53 - Joyner with 15 and 13 for the Lady Mocs

*Score corrected so the result is right, but the comment still works.

Also

Dayton 81 Yale 75 - closer than I would have guessed
Oakland 123 Michigan Dearborn 38 - 85 point margin is, uh, impressive
Coastal Carolina 105 Mid-Atlantic Christian 15 - 100 point margin is, uh, stunning
California Riverside 86 Fresno State 68 - 1st palindromic score of the year!

Today:

Big Ten: 6-1
Other RU opponents: 7-3

Year to date:

Big Ten: 6-1
Other RU opponents: 7-3

There has been one palindromic score in 123 games completed so far today. I don't think I need to give you the year to date totals.

The UNC loss was the most surprising and one wonders if the turmoil down with the axe looming over the women's program contributed to the loss.

What's up with these weird Yahoo four quarters scores? They show every game as a 2OT result. I don't think they are doing that on their men's site. Maybe they took someone from their NBA site (assuming they have one) who doesn't know diddly about college basketball.

Their site also lists only Top 25 team scores under "All teams" and there is no "All teams" listing at all so you have to look at each individual conference to find out who played and won/lost. With 30+ conferences, that takes a lot of time.

UNC has had a bunch of transfers out, so it's just not the same team it was even a year ago. I think they could struggle.

The Yahoo! scoreboard is completely messed up, and WBB State changed its format, too, so it's hard to use that one either. I'm going to try ESPN tonight and see if it's any better.

I forgot to update the rest of the top 25 scores:

#10 Oregon State 110 Longwood 45 - 6 Beavers in double figures
#16 Stanford 74 California Davis 45 - McCall had 10 and 11 for the Cardinal

I use WBBState for my referee tracking (PAC12 folks only). They totally changed their format creating all kinds of problems for me. They used to list the games and the refs, so you could spot a missing game (with some effort) or a missing ref (only 2 of 3, for example). Games against non D1 don't post and refs with an apostrophe in their names (In'fini Robinson of the PAC) don't post. Now just a list of ref's names and where they last worked. Can't detect the "missing" ones. Yuck.

I have always used ESPN for wins and losses without an issue.

ESPN has had issues over the years with timeliness - scores and boxes would lag other sites on games that didn't involve top 25 teams. It was okay today, though.
