I watched the entire Penn State-Tennessee game. Sloppy, lots of fouls and turnovers.

Penn State looked good, kept things close by making some tough shots and playing good defense.

Wasn't PSU one of the bottom teams in the conference last season? To lose by just 8 to Tennessee is surprising.

Nice to see Duke go down.

Lots of mismatches. Not good for the sport overall.

It's the perennial problem. I don't think I'm seeing more of these kinds of scores than the last couple of years, but obviously you want fewer of them, not the status quo.

Part of it is scheduling - teams still feel like they're rewarded for wins early in the year, and so they try to schedule as many games that they can win as possible - but that's not remotely the only factor.

Had Brianna Banks not gone out of the game early with an ankle injury, Tenn might not have snatched this game from the jaws of defeat. With a couple of exceptions, I thought the Vols looked awful. That said, it's hard to judge/assess any team this early in the season.
