Interesting thread from the WSU board (linked)

I've seen more than enough examples of your butchering of the Mother Tongue to know to ignore anything you have to say on the subject. Just because words are listed as synonyms does not mean that language experts consider them interchangeable - they don't in this case - please read either of the links I posted.
Irregardless, he was not technically wrong in his original usage which you've already acknowledged. Not sure why we're still discussing this.

i seem to recall Ole Miss putting up 75 on Tenn-Martin, where was the outcry there ESPN? oh thats right......by the way, that Wazzu board is lost, man i take back what i have ever said about this board. They havent had a wining record in 12 years, lead college football in all arrest past 5 years, and WE ARE THE DUMPSTER FIRE?? your sending that message from Pullman, WA...think before you hit send please, oh my.
i let a couple of those Hicks have it.

. An ESPN article was dumping on us for putting up 63 points this weekend like it was some unfair massacre. Almost every power 5 program did the same this past weekend.

Except for WSU, of course, a P5 team that lost to Portland St. :sunglasses:

Your weather predictions are worse than your command of the English language. Even in the face of being proven wrong, you cling to your stupidity. It's your gift.

Seriously? I can find tons of grammar/language/spelling errors throughout your posts, which you'd struggle to find in mine. Plus, as I've said many times, I generally don't make weather predictions, per se - I mostly report the forecasts of respected professionals (mostly the NWS) and try to explain what they mean for our tiny part of the world (P-way) in layman's terms for the board, so your insults on that count are largely irrelevant. I also doubt anyone thinks I'm "clinging to stupidity." Weak.

Great. If I was getting paid to make sure my posts didn't have errors, I might use something other than my iPad to post. I might also read through them. You seem to take pride in your posts even though they are riddled with errors. Good for you, but don't expect me to continuously point them out. I simply don't care enough. I had enough fun making you look silly in thread, all after you called attention to yourself in hopes of looking smart. Goof.

You were proven wrong. Most men would admit it and move on. Then there are people like you.

If you can't hang, don't play - I bolded two errors in your post above. I don't need to read through my posts to know they rarely have errors. Game over.

The game was over when you claimed that exacerbate and aggravate weren't synonymous, as seen above. Attempting to move the posts in hopes of feeling better about yourself is what small people do. Don't worry, no one expects you to stop digging that ditch.

Francesca took the same stance in 2007 when we beat them bad calling Rutgers a bully team. So I guess if you aren't a traditional power or name brand you are not allowed to score a lot of points vs a weak opponent? And we emptied the bench and handed off every play. My god these writers look for any and every reason to pile on RU.

Coug here. Ignore the West Coast sports journalism. All we hear out here is about a coach leaning on a prof to protect an academically deficient player and then the recent arrests you have suffered. It is lazy reporting. These folks have to put out one article a day so some just take what they read from your local muckrakers and go with it. Those who don't investigate the matter in more depth are left with the visage of a program rampant with intellectually limited thugs run by a shady coaching staff. The commotion caused by your problems are exaggerated and translated as an "implosion". There is a Greek proverb that I like- "The absent are always guilty"- and your point of view is absent. Sells papers and draws clicks on the internet though so that's nice.

We are undergoing the same type of miscasting over the recent list of most arrests per program. Never mind that the charges run the gamut from minor in a bar, traffic violations etc. to excessive noise complaints. One charge of running a grow operation in their basement by a couple of clowns who were quickly booted by Leach. No rapes, robberies or other serious violations. And no arrests of any type over the last year is not mentioned either. Embarrassing to us but basically crap. WSU is first in arrests over the last five years so they must be undisciplined goons.

Lazy writing read by a number of lazy readers. Why bother to examine the claim further when it is far easier to just jump to a conclusion? Shadenfreude is such fun, isn't it?

So don't worry about it. We have our share of nj.com muckrakers here too. Few Coug fans really see Rutgers on the edge of implosion.

As far as Saturday's game is concerned, if we play like we did last weekend you'll slaughter us. Hopefully, Leach and staff can right the ship and give you folks a contest with no injuries on either side. Good luck to you on Saturday.

Just a couple of comments by a Coug "hick" for your consideration.

To me, the connotation of "aggravate" is closer to "make aggressive/angry" than "irritate" which is closer to "cause discomfort".

I wonder if gamer culture will have any impact on the usage, given that "aggro" is used in MMORPGs and strategy games (primarily World of Warcraft, but it's spread) when a player draws near enough to NPC enemies to make them attack. "Aggro" is a shortened form of "aggravate" or "aggression".
It's certainly not "exaco".
