Ismael Massoud

Auburn just got a commit from 2019 forward Jaylin Williams. Ranked 127 nationally... I have to imagine that means no Ismael Massoud for them...

Given that Massoud's brother is a 2020 RU football target, I hope Ash's incompetence doesn't affect RU basketball recruiting. Think these guys want to go to school together.
Rutgers football is in a hopeless situation. I hope none of their issues bleed over into the basketball program, which has a great chance at giving us something amazing for years to come with Pike

Well Auburn just lost on a last second FG so the atmosphere in town for Massoud's visit should be quite subdued so that is a positive!

Massoud did not make the visit to Auburn this weekend....apparently scheduling issues came up with the hurricane or Auburn anticipated Jaylin Williams verbally committing and perhaps maybe Massoud will cool on Auburn...OR perhaps both sides reschedule the visit.

I'm 8-0 now [banana]

He was not there. Visit canceled

Auburn wouldn't do that. Some Auburn booster might, but not Auburn.

I'm not worried. I've already Forecasted Massoud to Rutgers. They need to hurry up and make Forecasting live. I've got three correct so far and the rest of my forecasts are "undecided".

Edit: Correction, I've got four correct so far (I forgot that Jae'lyn Withers committed to Louisville yesterday) and the rest of my forecasts are "undecided".

You have more sources than "Mad Dog" Russo. Would be a great way to fill out the roster and give the staff even more pleasant headaches in figuring out minutes.

I don't recall the date but I hope Massoud's visit isn't on a weekend where the Football team is home playing. [eyeroll]

I do not know who that is

Russo was part of a duo on NY radio for many years-the Coach and Mad Dog. Now on satellite. Maybe he is not as well-known as I (and he) thought.

The show was "Mike and the Mad Dog" (not Coach) and while they did not invent sports talk radio, they are primarily responsible for popularizing it over the past 30 or so years. Big enough of an influence that ESPN did a 30 by 30 special about them. Francesca is back on WFAN after an aborted retirement and Russo i son Sirius XM (his own station "Mad Dog radio" and on TV on MLB Network.
Neither has any love for Rutgers.

Oh okay. Thanks @BigLou I did see that 30 for 30 on ESPN. I guess it didn't stick with me.

I lived in Albany, NY briefly (thank God) and the radio station I worked at had Francesca's TV show on the air in the break room every day. One day I decided to eat lunch in there and watch him. While watching it I didn't get why he was considered such a great sports/talk host. I thought he was okay, but some people in the building talked about him like he was a radio God or something. I just told myself that maybe you have to be a New Yorker to get Francesca.

Actually Chris was pretty PRO Rutgers during the Bannon years. I ran into him at the Garden for BET and he was into us then. But like all things Rutgers, we screwed that up lol. (plus I think he liked to push Mike's SJU buttons a bit with us).

The appeal to many in the NYC area is that Mike Francesca is a big knowledgeable pro Yankee fan - other wise he is merely mediocre and annoying.

Nothing worse than clicking on a link, hoping to see people discussing a Rutgers prospect, to then have to read about fat Mike instead...
It definitely got hijacked. I'll try to get it back on track.

Massoud visits Wake Forest this weekend. Based on the location of Winston-Salem they probably just got some heavy rain from Hurricane Florence, like outer band stuff. On Saturday I spoke with someone who lives in that area & the storm never came up in conversation.

Current FutureCast picks for Massoud are 75% Rutgers and 25% Auburn. Unfortunately I do not know how many picks have been made because his profile page is only showing one pick (Richie's) but there have been more than one pick made.

As you can see I made my pick late last month.

Messed that up because I never heard the show, obviously, living in Md during my working life and then coming down here. Enjoyed Russo on Mad Dog Radio, though there have been some real losers working on his station. They come and go.

I'm very familiar with Auburn's reputation. Remember I do cover basketball recruiting for a SEC team school.

I draw the distinction because I think it is relevant. The end result is the same but it deserves to be pointed out whether the money comes from a booster or the school.
The good old days. Do you remember the 1969 Jacksonville Dolphins? Less than 3000 students lost to UCLA in the NCAA finals 80 - 69. 7'2 Artis Gilmore, 7'0 Pembrooke Burrows and 6'5 shooter Rex Morgan. They already had 7'0 Dave Brent, 6'8 Ernie Fleming and 6'2 JUCO Player of the Year Harold Fox on the way for 1970. Every one of them had a new muscle car. Some were the same color burnt orange. Who knows how much cash changed hands. Private, Not for Profit school was even too much for the NCAA which allegedly rigged the NCAA final for UCLA when the officials handed UCLA 34 foul shot to J'ville's 8. One of many, many stories I'm sure.

The predictions certainly have flipped to Wake. Is this a guess or did he verbal?
Honestly, it seems like once he didn't make it to his Auburn visit, the predictors switched to the next non-Rutgers power five team assuming he'd likely verbal to them and not us. There has been no news that would push that narrative other than him missing the Auburn official due to the hurricane. I'm still just happy he scheduled us as the last visit. As long as that visit happens we seem to be in good position.

I know that Jacksonville lost to UCLA in the NCAA Championship but only because I looked it up back in the late 70s when I was studying UCLA's amazing run of championships. I did not know that Rex Morgan played on that Jacksonville team until I met him several years ago. He was the head coach of Arlington Country Day School in Jacksonville. Coach Morgan passed away a few years ago, I miss him. I did not get to know him well but I thought he was a good man.
Wake Forest.........7 and 1
Actually I am 11-1 now. I was 11-0 and being stalked by the 1972 Miami Dolphins. But Josiah James surprised many people and committed to Tennessee and not Clemson and I got my first L.

A very reliable source told me that Massoud did not miss the Auburn visit due to the hurricane. He claims that is a false narrative that an Auburn reporter established.

Thanks. Rex was a good guy and a good scorer....Very sad about his cancer and passing. Too brief a career with the Celtics.
