Let's go METS 2016 thread ......Just get in and anything can happen!

KJ with huge HR in 11th. 2 games back . I think Reyes will be here by Cubs next weekend. Might move Nimmo so he gets better pitches to hit
Reyes
Grandy
Cespedes
Walker
Cabrera
Loney
TDA(please please please Lucroy)
Nimmo

I've kept quiet about Walker all season because I wanted to be a good foot soldier for the Mets. I think the Mets did themselves wrong by passing on Murphy for Walker all in the name of better defense. For every game Murphy cost the Mets with his defense Walker has been equally bad on offense. Mets too busy trying to save a dollar and still compete.

This team lacks speed/ base stealing and the ability to play small ball. If they are not hitting the long ball they stink. The Cheapons better start spending money on hitting to go with the pitching. Can't win every game 1-0.

Where I disagree with you:

- The Mets did themselves wrong for passing on Murphy - BIG TIME - however not at the expense of Neil Walker but at the expense of Lucas Duda. Murphy is not a 2b and he should have been re-signed to play 1B and the Mets should have traded Duda. Excluding Cespy, Murph was the only pure hitter on the team.

- The deal for Walker was a steal (Niese is horrible). The defense up the middle with Walker and Cabrera is excellent as Murph (and I love Murph) cost us a lot of games last year with his lack of defense and ability to turn the DP at 2b. Dilson Herrera is expected to be the 2b next year. Hopefully he can rise to the occasion as this team is built to win now.

Where I agree with you:

- Hopefully with Reyes, steals will occur at the leadoff spot but it won't be what he did in the past with the Mets. There's a lot of mileage on those legs and knees

- Hopefully Mark Cuban can render an offer to the Coupons that they can't refuse.

Would you trade two of top 4/5 to get Valencia or Lucroy ? Conforto for Lucroy ? I am on the win NOW side , as I said before I will take a few mediocre years if I can wear a World Series champions shirt down here in south jersey !
Wouldn't make that trade if I'm the Brewers. As of now, Conforto is still an unproven player. Mets were desperate and rushed him from Double AA. Hopefully his early season struggles don't mess him up long-term.

No offense, but 15 innings and no offense is not going to get the job done.
Insult to injury was watching the d-bag with the Abe Lincoln beard homering last night.

They'll likely be swept tonight (Scherzer vs. Verrett), pushing them to 6 games back. Tomorrow, they head home for an 11-game home stand with 4 vs. CHC, 3 vs. MIA, and 4 vs. WSH. Unfortunately, this stretch is about as make-or-break as it gets for late-June/early-July.

They stink right now. Not as awful as the Yankees, but they're pretty bad. Realistically speaking, this stretch more likely breaks them than makes them unless something drastic happens.

2 young aces with bone spurs, Harvey's up-and down season (ridiculous they never score him for regardless), the bullpen is hit or miss, and the offense is non existent and injured. Not looking good....

You DO realize that the Mets have won THREE more games than the Yankees, don't you ? So the Yankees stink is really not much worse than the Metsies stink. And three of the Yanks starters have ERAs over 5. And their offense is among the worst in baseball. Hopefully they'll turn it around in the second half.

While Cespedes looks like a superstar among the other Mets in the lineup, he has been somewhat pedestrian as of late. And WTF is going on with him not being able to dive back to a base or slide? That cost at least 2 outs and almost a twisted ankle.

Yanks need to be swept by Texas so they realize they need to make trades.

As I noted above, the Yanks have lost THREE more games than the Mets. Once ARod cranks it up we'll be right back in it.

But they may have the greatest rotation ever! As per Mets fans this spring.

Tk. what happened to CC yesterday? He pitched well and Yanks did not score. Mets do not score runs. Bob Gibson could lose on Mets too because they do not score.

Lol u think a rod is going to crank it up? Wow you're an optimistic one...I think it's more likely he's released

And yeah the mets have 3 more wins and 3 less losses which is an eternity in baseball. You keep on puffing your chest out buddy...

Only to a Mets fan.
So your team is just about TWO eternities behind the Nationals, eh ?
Mets fans are so funny.
and BTW, so sad to see they sent Ted Williams Conforto back down to the minor leagues.
Just be thankful your team found the money to pay Cespedes or you'd be fighting with the Braves for last place right now.
Amazin !

Your pitching staff is underachieving, time to face the facts.

Are you suggesting that Cespedes has already meant fourteen wins for the Mets this year?

Still talking...Smh.

Gee I was actually right about the Mets shouldve resigned Daniel Murphy. But then again, he would be swinging at low and outside pitches if he had stayed.

Murphy was neither the Nats nor the Mets first choice. They both wanted Zobrist. Only after Zobrist was off the board did the Nats go hard after Murphy. The Mets of course went in another direction -- Walker and his expiring contract. And in fairness to Walker, he is giving them what was expected of him. It's just that Murphy is fracturing all expectations.

Remember, if the Mets sign Murphy, they don't sign Cespedes. We'll see whether that was the right decision after three years, not three months.

Uh...it's currently TWO more wins.
Is that like two thirds of an eternity ?

That exactly is the problem with the Wilpons.....Both Cespy and Murph should have been back as they were the 2 that led them to the WS. Murph was relatively cheap and wanted to come back - as did Cespy. As I and many have said, Murph should have been signed to play 1B and the Mets should have traded Duda - the lumberjack who can't hit lefties and is too inconsistent.. And when you bring up the money issue - that exactly is where the problem resides.

Murph is the MVP of the league right now...do you think the Wilpons sleep well? Of course......And Gary Cohen (Mr Know It All and Shill for the Wilpons)) publicly said last year that Murph is a net minus......Huh?

Yup. I believe it was "net negative." Lotta egg on Gary's face so far this year. Should've moved Duda and had Murph play 1B. Or perhaps use the small fortune being paid to Alejandro D'FA on keeping Murph.

Dont forget the Mets depending on a third baseman with a degenerating spine to rebound and have a comeback player of the year type year. It almost NEVER go well for anyone with that type of injury. Murph could've been your third baseman, his more natural postition.

Is it me or do everyone on Mets TV and Radio has been taking subtle shots at Murphy during telecasts this year? For some reason, Darling went apesh** when he faked out Cespedes on a base hit, holding Yo at second. Cohen with his little shots here and there as well as the radio guys. Might be nit picking here but it do sound like sour grapes across the board when they're talking about Murphy.

Last night !!! It's been a week long crapfest !!!
Its been the month from hell!!!!

Some Mets fans are saying not to worry because they were in the same position last year. Yeah well, who's this year's Cespedes, Uribe, Reed and the others to come in and solidify the team? Who are the Mets going to give up to get Lucroy or anyone else because pretty soon, they're going to run out of minor leaguers to trade off.
