this is pretty big, because this is a kid with some great options....including Harvard. And he's a proven winner and LA POY.

I'm surprised, as he just met with Cuse coaches in the past week and had given an interview that indicated he wasn't even considering anyone else. Maybe that was before the RU offer, or some other targets getting pursued by SU, or maybe Tulane is coming hard.

247 predicts him going to Rutgers*
edit: * my mistake in hitting send before making sure everything came out right.
Left out the s in Rutgers and had that pointed out .
Apologies to all are in order and thanks to rara it was fixed

Won't nitpick , just say one QB in every recruiting class is a must and Scott might prove to be a good one after 2 years of learning how to be the best he can be as a QB.
Right now RU has QBs that are fighting to be the starter and two years down the road it might be Scott doing the same

I've mentioned this before.....his background is very similar to Drew Brees in terms of being a proven winner in high school, yet not as recruited as you'd think because of his height.

Despite being unbeaten in two seasons as a starter in Texas class 6A, Brees was only recruited by Ivies, Kentucky and Purdue (which only happened in the final month of recruiting, with a coaching staff and system change). Also both Brees and Scott are the child of an attorney....and Lindsey Sr. Played for a championship Southern U. Team.

Russell Wilson will be another person LJ18 might be compared to.

Wilson and Bree's are the exceptions. Maybe Scott is too, but it's not easy being a sub 6' QB in big time college football.

I guess you would pass on Russell Wilson too by that logic.
So every 5'10 QB is Russel Wilson? Why didn't LSU offer this kid or any other P5 school. Sorry Grambling, Navy, Colgate, Alcorn state are who we are fighting against for this kid.

What were your comments when a 6'0" QB named Chase Dodd was our QB. Every other comment was how short he was but now a 5'10" QB is ok.

Freaking double standard posters.

Well for one thing, LSU is giving up on the spread. And QB height is less important in the spread because he's moving most of the time. I think Ash takes 2 QB's is he can get them.
We're going to see 8-10 transfers in the spring I would think.

I'm not anointing him a savior, i just think this is the exact type of guy we need in the new culture. And maybe that means he'd change positions for the sake of the team if someone else had won the QB slot when he's an upperclassman , like Braxton Miller did.

Just curious is 8-10 a guess or do you have a good idea of some prospects?

in the new offense we'll need a couple in each class..look how many OSU go through the last 2 yrs..

Chas Dodd had zero mobility. It's harder to be a short pocket passer than it is to be a short spread QB.

Can Dodd move like Scott?

First of all, the poster I responded to declared the kid a pass on height alone. I brought up Russell Wilson to demonstrate the folly of that kind of thinking. I think it hit the nail on the head.

Next, you want to compare apples to oranges. That is exactly what a comparison of Chas Dodd to Lindsey Scott is in reality. The truth is that neither of us are in a position to say whether Lindsey Scott is the next Russell Wilson or not. But I am not going to rule him out because of his height.

I can tell you that Dodd had the best RB in the nation on his team at the time and that undoubtedly improved his performance and standing. But truth be told, I can't remember any other P5 offers for Dodd? Beyond that, I am pretty sure that Dodd didn't run a 4.5 forty-yard dash.

I don't know if Scott had a similar difference maker to what Dodd had in high school at RB, but I doubt it. Scott has very good arm, foot speed, and he's super smart (has a Harvard scholarship). I like him for our new spread offense.

I am sure the coaches will figure all this out, so at this point if they are happy with Lindsey Scott as a possible BIG, P5 Quarterback then that's all right with me.

Lindsay Scott is listed at 6' everywhere.....is that not true?
he'd been committed to ''Cuse'' and even before they knew he might come here they claim he's 5;10'' or maybe ''11''...say he's be an excellent RB too....reminded a poster of Ray Rice....at least they still have Rex Culpepper..I'm thinking we caught lightning in a bottle....this is where i'd like Money to chip in..i respect his opinion even as a Cuse poster..he's pretty knowledgeable..

Is Rex related to Larry from the Dr. Pepper commercials?

Honestly i don't know but i think his dad was in the NFL and played college ball at UGa or UF in the SEC. I remember a pretty good Culpepper from 20 or so yrs ago vaguely..thats why i hope money will post.

Rex Culpepper's Dad is Lindsey Scott Sr? o_O

NIcky and I were discussing Rex Culpepper. HIS Dad is Brad Culpepper, who played for the Gators and then in the NFL, and is now an Attorney, and also appeared on Survivor. Not sure if they are all related to the Dr. Pepper guy Larry Culpepper.

Gotcha. He looks closer to 6' than 5'10 in his pics and videos, but I guess it's pretty hard to tell. Either way, kid is really smart, is faster than most players we have on our team and has a better arm than Laviano. Would not be mad if we landed him.

personally I would rather have Odin but I would not have an issue if this kid commits first.
Maybe we get both...Scott is an awesome athlete but we need at least one more QB...I think were gonna be surprised at the level of talent we'll pull in this class...i hope i'm right.

Pigrome is very fun to watch, too.

If Ash is really as blunt as they say he is (in terms of saying upfront the level of work someone needs to put in to get to BigTen level of durability or the fact they may need to work special teams first), then I'd like to think that whomever really gets that will buy into everything.
