Lindsey Scott Jr. decommits from Cuse.....

Maybe we get both...Scott is an awesome athlete but we need at one more QB...I think were gonna be surprised at the level of talent we'll pull in this class...i hope i'm right.

The year that Brees was recruited to Purdue (January 97) was within a month of a coaching change, and, even though Purdue hadn't gone to a bowl game in 17 years, from the moment Joe Tiller's system and culture took over, they went to eight consecutive bowls, including the Rose Bowl in Brees' senior year. Brees is a legend in terms of his accuracy and mental approach, but my point is that between the culture change and the system change, the talent already there was immediately improved and the new recruits were made for the system.

But everybody wet themselves over a QB whose only other offer was Temple.

The logic is pretty hilarious. Scott has offers from Cuse, Rutgers, Tulane, Wake, Navy, Air Force, Army, Harvard. He's not exactly deciding between the who's who of college football royalty. Btw, he is very good, so I'm not denying that. I just find the narrative from Rutgers fans to be absurd.

This is the guy you want. He is the backup plan for us if haskins doesn;t commit. tOSU coaches think he is underrated.

Interesting scenario, as unlikely as it is as I believe Haskins will go to OSU. Let's say Oden commits to RU and Haskins goes somewhere other than OSU. Does Meyer do his protege' dirty and go after Oden?

tOSU has been in contact with Oden since the fall just have never made an offer, so he might. However they are all in on Haskins and feel very good about flipping him.

this is pretty big, because this is a kid with some great options....including Harvard. And he's a proven winner and LA POY.

I'm surprised, as he just met with Cuse coaches in the past week and had given an interview that indicated he wasn't even considering anyone else. Maybe that was before the RU offer, or some other targets getting pursued by SU, or maybe Tulane is coming hard.

These tweets are becoming just as popular as the announcements to commit pressers

I liked Scott. I think he is a special player despite his height. So in my eyes its a big loss but I dont think Babers and staff was totally sold on him. They immediately locked up Rex Culpepper first, then they went after other QB's before really reaching out to Scott and setting up his official for the last weekend of recruting. They finally sent a coach to visit. I was always thinking there was a good chance he would end up elsewhere until a coach visited him. Everything seemed to be ok because scott reaffirmed his commitment. Just a couple of days later, after visiting Tulane, he did a complete 180. My bet he was talked into staying home and being the home town hero. Tulane just offered his #1 WR from H.S. I personally think he is a high level QB who would be great in Rutgers new system.

Tylin Oden, the Louisville commit, appears to be leaning to Rutgers according to 247.

In a perfect scenario where both Oden & Scott commit to RU it'd be a great foundation for this offense going forward. Scott probably ready sooner, but Oden with more upside/pro potential.

Maryland just offered. Maybe he wanted to be with Shafer. so who knows? I still thinks he ends up staying home with Tulane

Now that Maryland offered all our fans are gonna say he's 6' and he should be on top of our list
Seems late for Md....if he was a Md kid I'd worry but Shafer ain't exactly a great recruiter and not even an offensive coach.. we get the last visit i think we get him...Md isn't OSU or even PSU and i trust our young and hungry new staff...once this thing gets started were gonna be a player in the B1G...

Personally, I just want high character guys that can compete. With Scott and Oden, they both give off the impression that education means something to them and that's refreshing.

Glory days? What glory days???
You have to admit that the Donovan McNabb era was pretty great.....also, the whole Legacy of #44 thing.....EDIT: Larry Csonka, Floyd Little, Ernie Davis Jim Brown

Getting the starting job and having a modicum of success at the college level is hard enough. Getting drafted or even an invite to a NFL camp is harder still. If he can get a free ride at Harvard he should take it. There's a life after football.

The Jim Brown era consisted of 4-4, 5-3 and 7-2 seasons. Glory days???

Thanks for info. I have a legit question though...how do you feel Haskins will be in your offense? From everything I've seen and heard he's a pocket passer, much more like Cardale than Barrett or Miller. However, he's also a much better QB prospect than Jones. What are your thoughts on this? I hope he flips to you and gets away from Maryland to be honest.

As for RU, I think Oden may want to be the only QB taken so if we do land him I think we bring in Scott and/or Pigrome as "athletes". they can compete and then move to slot/WR if they don't play QB here. IMO, we need as many athletes as we can get. Is it unrealistic to think we can land all three? Maybe. But I think that's what we need to get to where we are making this a numbers game. Instead of taking one Tom Savage or Anthony Russo and riding all your hopes that that one 17-18 year old kid lives up to they hype...take 3 athletes in one class and hope two compete at QB and one is a play maker elsewhere in your offense.

Only McNabb played during current recruits lifetimes. I'm guessing it's a stretch to think current players care what happened in the 50's, 60's, and 70's.

Syracuse was a very good REGIONAL program in the northeast in the 80's and 90's, however, they were always second fiddle to our buddies out in central PA. They had some nice wins during that time period, no doubt but in modern college football they were never this great national powerhouse that their fans like to believe they were. Sure, maybe they were great during the days when Army and Navy were competing for national championships and Pitt was claiming national titles for beating the local button factory unions but we were pretty good back then too.

The question is, whether Pigrome and Scott would come as athletes or do they want to be the only QB in the class.

I think Oden is the one that wants to be the only QB. I think that's part of the reason he's shying away from Louisville...they have another QB committed. Pigrome and Scott will have to compete as athletes no matter where they go unless Scott goes to Harvard. Then I'd have to think he's a lock to play QB there.

Oden is a stud with massive potential. He has to be the first "QB" on the board now. Scott would great to take as a back-up QB option, but more realistically would be better for other positions, assuming Oden is in the fold.

Oden is the guy. His upside is incredible. Tall, fast, big arm. Plus the ancillary benefit of perception would be huge. He has a nice offer list and is a Louisville commit. Flipping him after being on the job for a couple of weeks is statement material.

No inside info just getting very good vibes about Oden. In-home today, on campus, Weds, I have a feeling he flips before week's end!

I hope. He is a statement recruit. In the heart of Sec country with multiple Sec offers including Tennessee. Flipping him as a commit is even more boss.

Feeling the vibes on this one too. Let's see what happens.

I haven't heard Odin's name at all but Pigrome and Scott are both being pursued by MD. No real surprise that we are competing for the same guys. I think MD is in better standing with Pigrome but the Shafer connection for Scott can't hurt.

He will be fine, he will be surrounded by crazy athletes at WR, TE, HB, and RB. He isn't stuck in cement like sackenburg, he just has to be able to move well enough to get a few yards on broken plays, won't be many designed QB runs.

Alex Smith and Chris Leak were no Braxton Miller and they did fine in UFM's offense.

How is MD in a better position for Pigrome? Is MD running a similar offense? I don't know of Pigrome having any other visits (Md) set up. The same goes for Scott. MD has a lot of ground to make up. It really hard to get a recruit to commit to your school if they haven't even set up an OV.

At this point, I would be very surprised if Haskins does not decommit from Maryland.

Pigrome has an OV to MD set for Jan 29, a week after he visits Va Tech.

And to the post above this, I agree on Haskins. He is flipping to OSU later today according to everything I've seen.

OK, hadn't heard anything about the MD visit. The Va. Tech possibility I knew. He was in the works to set up the visit. Still, not sure what to make of the Va. Tech visit.

anyone with the last visit is generally a near lock.....i think we get Scott on the 29th...now were with Odin today..lets see how it shakes out.

Usually I would say yes to your statement, but way Pigrome set up visit in a rush over the last week makes me think everyone has real shot except Tulane.
