Some might not remember when RU was more of a FCS division member then playing as a FBS program.
So they might scoff at what RU FB accomplished as a D-1AA program and not even think about Rutgers undefeated seasons or any of the other things that make this RU FB fan feel good.
Even if they seem minor to someone else , they mean something to me.
Will copy and past something so no one feels they shouldn't have taken the trouble to learn about RU FB's past:
Middle Atlantic Conferences
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In 1958, the MAC began sponsoring football. The football conference essentially operated as two separate conferences with the larger schools (Delaware, Temple, Lafayette, Lehigh, Bucknell, Gettysburg, and Rutgers) playing a round robin schedule, and the smaller schools (Juniata, Lycoming, Wilkes, Widener, and Albright) playing a separate round robin schedule. Although the upper division of the conference (which also included Muhlenberg, Drexel, La Salle, and St. Joe's) competed at the Division I (then known as the University Division) level in other sports, only Rutgers was considered a University Division football school. Following the 1969 season, the upper level of MAC football was disbanded as Temple dropped out to upgrade their football schedule. Rutgers had previously dropped out of the MAC for all sports and a five team football league was not desirable.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights football
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rutgers first undefeated season was in 1876
The 1961 season was particularly remarkable as it was the Scarlet Knights' first undefeated season (9–0)
In 1961, Rutgers was considered a contender for the Rose Bowl, but was not selected because university president Mason Welch Gross did not express interest with the Rose Bowl's organizers
Rutgers football, led by coach Frank R. Burns, showed the nation its capabilities with an undefeated record in 1976 (11-0).
In 1976, Rutgers declined an invitation to play an unranked McNeese State University at the inaugural Independence Bowl, feeling snubbed by more prestigious bowls despite its undefeated 11–0 season.

Just because I'm proud of some of the things RU FB accomplished competing basically as a D-1AA (FCS) school doesn't mean I expect all RU fans to feel the same way.
Just hope no one feels the need to belittle what Rutgers accomplished playing a D-1AA schedule because RU FB 's history doesn't make it look like one of thee top programs that ever was.
