Gapas gets two sets of back points to tack on another 8 points to his lead. He is able to maintain control as the period expires. Gapas heads into the second period up 14-0.
 
Rotondella was close to an escape at the end of the first period, but it was never called. Officials appear to be reviewing the final seconds of the period to see if Gapas lost control.
 
After reviewing, Rotondella is awarded an escape. Rotondella chooses defense, and quickly reverses Gapas. Gapas regains control, and tilts Rotondella, once again. Gapas wins 20-3, by tech fall, in the second period.

DeSantis rides out the period and the match, to win 17-6 with the RT point.

Looks like I made an oversight on the weigh-in sheet. Gerard Angelo, who wrestled off at 149-lbs last week, weighed in 158.1-lbs today. He is out for Rutgers at 165-lbs against Jeff Johnson.
 
Angelo with a takedown on the edge of the mat, but Johnson is able to escape not long after.

Angelo scores on a go-behind as time winds down in the first period. He takes a 4-1 lead into the second.

Johnson chooses defense.

The choice pays off, as Angelo scores a takedown. He gives up an escape shortly after, making it 6-3, Angelo.
 
Angelo with another takedown from a front-headlock. Johnson is able to escape, but Angelo scores another taekdown before time expires. Angelo wins an 11-4 decision.
