Sebastian Rivera takes the mat to wrestle Ryan Anderson.

Rivera jumps out to an early lead with a takedown

Wouldn't be too concerned about Alvarez. Just got caught. Sobotker was wrestling on the edge, with the Rutgers bench calling for a stall call against him. Alvarez was pushing in and got launched. He should bounce back alright.

MVB out at 149 against Nick Lombard

Yes, I see Turley in running shoes now. Had the brace and wrestling shoes on earlier.

You're not wrong about McDermott, but so far, so good. Always good to have that big move ability in the back pocket, especially at heavyweight.
Turley back with his knee pad on one side, brace on the other. Not sure if Alvarez pin changed decision to wrestle or not.

Van Brill got behind Lombard, and attempted to return him to the mat for a take. Lombard was able to get out of bounds. Refs checking the tape to see if Lombard fled the mat

Good catch. Turley is in the corner, and appears to be getting loose. Connor O'Neill also up and getting ready. Will be interesting to see Goodale's decision once 174 comes around

Scoreless first period - first one of the day for Rutgers, I believe.

MVB going down to start the second

Van Brill escapes to get on the board first. 1-0, MVB with 1:30 remaining in the second period

No score the rest of the way. MVB holding onto a 1-0 lead going into the third.

Lombard chooses defense

Match Notes:
- Sammy Alvarez looks damn good at 133-lbs, and if he can maintain his weight, will undoubtedly be a podium contender
- 174-HWT is going to be a SOLID stretch for Rutgers
- Boone McDermott is a scary man. His ability to throw could be huge in dual meet competition.
Disagree with Alvarez... He was very sloppy putting himself in bad positions more than once... 2nd match it hurt him bad....on the plus side his conditioning looked good in 1st match

Alvarez is a funk wrestler. He will regularly go to 50/50 positions, and usually fairs pretty well. I think he will be fine. Thought he was very offensive in that first match, and did a good job of racking up points.

Kannairds gonna have to improve his standup defense on that body lock. Almost cost him two wins today.
