No. 18 Rutgers Wrestling Treks to 2022 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships

Sammy battles back and wins in SV but he certainly doesn't make it easy lol

Alvarez by decision but again, not earning a bye despite being the 2 best wrestler in the bracket is moronic, and not only nearly cost Alvarez a match but now he just burned a ton of energy that he shouldn’t have needed to.

Soldano hit a 6 point move in the 1st period. He gets in these underneath arm/body locks too often for my liking but it seems to work consistently.

Soldano a bright spot does what he should and dominates 10-1

Desantis tied now but was sluggish to start which seems to be a recurring them after watching Alvarez and White. Not sure what is going on but hopefully it stops.

Shawver gets an early test against McCormick, who is a 2x NQ

If that’s the reasoning it’s pretty dumb. First, your team shouldn’t be granted the ability to score more because other wrestlers were good enough to secure higher seeds and presumably byes. Second, while these early matches could be quick you’re taking unnecessary energy away from a wrestler over the course of a long weekend.
I believe they seed a certain amount of the guys and then randomly draw in the rest. This is to randomize extra bonus points in pigtails.

Really hope they find a way to get both Shawver and Peterson in the lineup next year. Shawver has wrestled awesome all year.
100%. Hopefully one of them is comfortable up at 133

Alvarez needs to step it up this match.
Usually when a top guy gets gifted w a pigtail you get us bonus, not an OT match. Let's go.

Non Rutgers related, just saw Clark from Princeton get dominated by Michael Colaiocco. I think that was his first d1 match though.

Anthony Clark got dominated by Colaiocco. Not unexpected given his 2+ year hiatus from live wrestling, but I really wonder what happened to him.

I watched the end of it and he had no offense and looked tiny.

There is not a shred of doubt in my mind that Olivieri beats Alvarez if they wrestled off. Doesn’t make sense long term to pull his redshirt, but he’s without question the better of the two at this weight.

One of them 125 and with this being Heilman’s last year, the other one at 133 ez
Easier on paper than in reality, but I think Bill has said here Shawver has had a little bit of difficulty holding 125 and he’d be the likelier of the two to bump up. Kind of crazy considering Peterson as a sophomore in high school was talking about going 132 or 138 his junior and senior years.

Sammy blew a lot of energy in that 1st match with the come from behind win. We'll see how he responds.
