No. 18 Rutgers Wrestling Treks to 2022 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships

For once, I’d like to see Sammy start with a sense of urgency instead of always being in the defensive/counter attack mode
So far so good takes the 1st shot and takedown. He’s good on his feet he doesn’t need to rely on counters. Yet he does

Alvarez just kind of always looks tired and is pulling his shots. He has second shots or reshoots and he just half shoots em.

Alvarez looks better this match but he looked exhausted getting set for that third period referees position

Easier on paper than in reality, but I think Bill has said here Shawver has had a little bit of difficulty holding 125 and he’d be the likelier of the two to bump up. Kind of crazy considering Peterson as a sophomore in high school was talking about going 132 or 138 his junior and senior years.
I thought Bill said Peterson was the more likely one to bump up to 133 next year? I guess if they both wanna go 133 next year then they wrestle off for it and the other guy goes 125? If neither can go 125 then yeah we will have problems..

Soldano hit a 6 point move in the 1st period. He gets in these underneath arm/body locks too often for my liking but it seems to work consistently.
That's been his style since youth wrestling and isn't changing, so get used to it lol
Anthony Clark got dominated by Colaiocco. Not unexpected given his 2+ year hiatus from live wrestling, but I really wonder what happened to him.

I watched the end of it and he had no offense and looked tiny.
Every team has top recruits that don't pan out for a number of reasons, whether it's injuries, peaked in HS, not putting in the work, loss of drive, etc.

That's his style and isn't changing, but he definitely needed more rest time after the opening match.

Damn not a good start for Turley down 4-0. Not looking good at all.

Is it a coincidence that our best wrestlers each have a quality guy behind them and our worst wrestlers have nobody behind them?

What in the fvck is Turley doing? Just got hit for two stallings

It’s over he’s being destroyed by a true freshman. He’ll be lucky to make NCAA’s. Injuries have taken it’s toll physically and mentally.

Crazy that he was an all American as a freshman to this…I don’t think his body is right unfortunately

You can tell he doesn't have the same strength, confidence, or moxie anymore unfortunately.

Soldano having a tough time against Hale, who he beat pretty easily earlier this year. Currently tied 2-2 going into the 3rd

Lot of that going around lately. Similar can be said about Alvarez, Poz was looking burnt out last year, Janzer hasn’t been the same since his early days at RU mostly because of injuries.

The covid year has made a lot of guys starters for seemingly forever and we’re reaching a point where a lot of this lineup needs to be switched out. This is a pretty weak field compared to years past and there are already 4 weight classes where our starters couldn’t make the round of 16.

Soldano narrowly escapes with a 4-3 decision over Hale. You can tell Hale is strong as an ox and it gave Soldano trouble.
