OT: 2023 NJ HS Football Season

Toms river is kinda boring to watch haha.

Heavy run right, heavy run left. Rinse repeat. It works so cant blame them I guess

BTW, not many teams will score 50 on Millville. This is actually a good defensive game as TRN is TIGHT on Brooks. But Fire is starting to pop open those 20+ runs as that Big Ass OLine might be wearing down Millville’s DL.

TRN is basically running Single Wing FB. Two big plays was that WB counter that was like a 50+yd run on third down. Then throw over the top to their wide open receivers while the whole defense moves up and trying to stop Ford. Simple but effectively deadly.

Also no fvcking way jaelyne matthews is the #1 player in NJ in 2025. Hes either lazy or hurt. He looks like an average big guy this game

Not very impressed with either TRN or Millville. Ford is obviously not a P5 QB but is a solid runner. Millville’s coverage on the second TR touchdown was not even Pop Warner caliber. Both of these teams would be crushed in the Trinity League in Orange County SoCal, but that really isn’t a fair comparison. Hopefully teams will show more in second half.

How would Bergen, Bosco, St Peter’s would do vs the Californian Non Public’s in the Trinity League?

Ford never was a P5 QB. He’s a P5 RB playing QB.

Not every offense has to be 4 Wide, RPO off of Wide Zone. This the perfect offense for TRN to run and it works for them.

I’d love to see it. I lived in Mission Viejo for 10 years ( when Mark Sanchez was there) and every Friday night was a treat. Also saw a lot of Bishop Gorman in Vegas. Jersey kids are tough but would be out skilled, especially at QB.

Never said Ford was a QB. It is perfectly clear where his skill set is. Stanford should be happy.

Haddonfield west essex starting now. Haddonfield so well coached. I got haddonfield in a close one

Morris Sussex Sports have Shabazz at Randolph. Hoping Shabazz will have good coaching again after 4 years of clowns with headsets.

Also have as well as Willingboro at Northern Highlands, two playoff teams going at it.

TRN holds on to win 14-7. I’m sure both teams will be a lot better at the end of the season. Lots of 0 week issues- penalties, dropped passes, miscues. Was that Sean Gleeson calling plays for Toms River?

End of the 1st. Bergen Catholic 3 , RBC 0. Place is packed. Doesn't look like Bergen travels very well.

Thought the same.

BC is filling the box on D. RBC has to quick hit a couple slants to back them off a few. The outside guys are single covered with no safety help at all. Guessing RBC is a ground game bunch.

BC way better prepared so far.

Not against the try on 4th and short even though unsuccessful.

Bishop Gorman putting it to Long Beach Poly 22-0 in 2 nd qtr. Game being played at Nike national headquarters in Beaverton, OR. Gorman is loaded. Playing field is not level. Recruiting advantage is ridiculously unfair.

Super Football Conference showing exactly what people were afraid of .. blowouts all over the place. Sad not just for the players but for the environments as everyone will leave at halftime.

At Westwood 44-6 at the half over South Plainfield. There was a game earlier today 37-0 between two other teams. That said HS football still beats anything else on a Friday night

Beginning of the fourth quarter, Shabazz is beating Randolph 34-26 on the road.

Perennial NJ powerhouse Don Bosco lost its opener to Bishop Spaulding of Maryland 28-14.

SJR crushed the team from North Carolina (down in Asheville) 49-10. I think SJR may be better this year. Better than Bergen and Bosco, probably not, but who knows at this point.

HUGE WIN by Camden East Side as that 6-0 score stood up to beat Irvington tonight.
