OT: 2024 NY Giants Season Thread

For as ineffective as the D has been this half, at least it's only 9 points against.

And by no means does that score total mean they have been effective. Cause 2 touches for the offense through 28 minutes is not effective defense......but still only 9 points.

Nah, Howard vs Akron does not have talent on the field like Daniels and Nabers.

These are 2 NFL teams. Probably not good teams, but they could each still be decent.

NYGs are supposed to have a good DL.
Washington was running up the middle like it was 11 on 7
Jets are a better game now

Apparently it’s more fun to just try to hit someone rather than wrap them up and tackle them.

Well I’ll say this….the Giants red zone defense has been good today. Between the 20s? No so much.

Jones's ability to consistently find what looks like a wide open Nabers, makes me question everyone else's ability to get open.

Need to see the replay, but initial reaction is, Slayton needs to catch that.

That was so NY Giants football. In a clutch situation just fold, First Slayton, now Nabers fits in perfectly with this organization.

I thought this was the only type of games we could win, a defensive battle. Looks like I was wrong.

Need, for once this game, for the D to get off the field early in a drive.

Defense is so disappointing….not a single punt forced against the friggin Commanders.

Looks like RU grad Jude McAtamny is coming up from the Practice Squad. Gano either pulled a tore a hammy on the opening KO.
Jude would be first Rutgers player to kick in the NFL.

Also, Jude would be the second Ireland-born player to score in the NFL and first in 39 years.

His first attempt at Rutgers was a missed extra point.

Would be weird if Jude goes from 2nd string placekicker in college to NFL starter. Doubt that has happened before but I'm not certain.

How is he the Giants backup kicker?

Graham Gano was named the starting kicker at the beginning of the season. Jude was put on the practice squad, the only kicker there, making him the Giants #2 kicker.

NFL teams typically have one kicker on the game day roster.

However, Graham entered the game today with a groin injury, leading some to see the Giants adding Jude to the active roster in case something happened to Graham. Something did happen. Graham left the game for good after the game's opening kickoff with an injury - perhaps the quickest injury exit in NFL history.

Without another kicker on the roster, the Giants punter, Jamie Gillan, was pressed into action as the Giants kicker. After botching his first extra point, the Giants didn't bother allowing Jamie to kick again.

If Graham can't go next Sunday in Cleveland, Jude is likely to be elevated from back up kicker to starter.

I guess any decent FG non starter just sit as a FA until a spot opens up?

Who are the potential FA options?
