OT: 2024 NY Giants Season Thread

They do. He's on the Practice Squad. Last week was an in game injury. Nothing you could do
Caught between a rock and a hard place. Dabol probably thought Gano could make it through and didn’t want to carry an extra kicker. Bit him on the ass and Giants should be 2-1 now. Where is Brad Daluiso when you need him?! 😁

Yet he was 1 player short of a full 53 roster for game. He could have added 2nd kicker without dropping someone. Even if he had a full roster, how often does 53rd player actually contribute.

Saquon last year (14 games) - 962 yds and 6 TDs
Saquon this year (3 games) - 351 yds 4 TDs

Now do a comparison of the OLs from last year and this year.
With NYGs there's never a need lol.

Still, choice to eject Saquon was sus.
Waller contract was for 51m
Golladay contract as for 72m.
But Saquon was "unaffordable"

Not useful comparing a running back salary to that of a WR or TE. Every organization places value & cap space by position independent of the specific people filling those roster spots.

Now has the NYG front office been absolutely terrible with signings & drafts for a decade plus? Absolutely. But can’t compare RB to WR.

Its not the position.

Golladay was a headcase - had the yips maybe - complete bust of epic proportions.
Waller was a predictable bust looking at past injuries and psych issues.
He came in with a ton of buzz so he had good agents.

SB was a solid citizen and "good guy" (Tiki) - he was face of NYGs after Eli.
He was injury prone but when not hurt he produced - one of few RBs that could score long. Fans really liked him.

It was a strange issue between player and office.
I know Saquon made some misteps calculating his salary but nothing like gaffs HQ made

Also, you have to look at the order of how things went down. Barkley was unfortunately in position of negotiating after several bad deals were made.

What are the cap rules when a player retires due injury? Could Waller have opened up more room for Barkley if he had announced in December? Did he receive anything between December and his retirement date?

There is also the issue with 2nd contracts for RB that the outer years are problematic.

In terms of how much any organization is willing to spend, it absolutely is the position. No way any organization would give Golladay money to any RB, which is what you intimated in your post and what I responded to.

Everything else — I agree with 100%. Giants front office has been a dumpster fire for 10+ years.

The Giants considering the state they are in were right not to sign Barkley to that big of a contract. Way to many holes to fill. He had a chance last year to sign but his agent ruined that.

That's a new one for me. Never seen that before, Cowboys defense facemasks, but they access the penalty to the Giants offense.

If the league is going to use that “replay assist” to pick up flags, cases like the face mask allowed to get through are just going to feed the narrative that the league fixes games.

So how did the NFL make the defense give up an easy 4th down conversion and even easier TD catch and run?

Stop. Multiple things can be true at the same time. The facemask call was terrible.

Correct it was.
But doesn't mean it's some vast conspiracy.
It could just be a bad call.

As the refs promptly maintain a review to the benefit of the Giants.

Those two plays are the Daniel Jones experience.
Awful throw into double coverage.
3rd and long - great throw for a 1st.

You have got to be sh*tting me Robinson. Where do the Giants find these guys?

Run game getting very little and we need to climb our way out of 3rd & long too much (which they’re doing a good job of so far). But feels like a game where we’ll be trading NYG FGs for Dallas TDs.

Jones has no arm strength, he under throws every deep ball.
Wow, another terribly thrown deep ball….DJ has been given all the time in the world to throw tonight and his short and intermediate game is fine. But the deep ball is no threat at all.

1.1 yd/rush….against a team getting gashed by the run thus far this season….that ain’t gonna get it done.
