OT: 2024 NY Giants Season Thread

Giants exist to bail Dallas out every year.
Horrible game to watch
Saquon must be smiling with the atrocious run stats

I turned this game on just in time to only see that interception that ended the game (except for the Cowboys kneeling it). I didn't care who wins, but did anyone notice if there was any contact after the interception? The guy got up and ran the ball out the back of the end zone. Unless I'm missing something, if there was no contact, that's a safety. If there was contact, it must have been just barely and out of pure coincidence. I can't believe the announcers didn't even bring this up, or that the Giants didn't want it looked at. Am I missing something, or was this a complete oversight by everybody, especially the Cowboys player?

EDIT: Actually I did some reading on this and it seems like if it were a safety, the ensuing kick would not happen, so the Giants would still lose anyway. I doubt most of the people on the field were aware of that though.

Correct it was.
But doesn't mean it's some vast conspiracy.
It could just be a bad call.

As the refs promptly maintain a review to the benefit of the Giants.
The call on the field can just be a bad call.

On the other hand, “Replay assist” is someone from the league looking at every play and buzzing down to the refs where an egregious mistake was made and getting them to fix it without either team having to challenge.

They don’t add flags if there was a missed penalty, but they get the refs to pick up a flag, call a player OOB if he was mistakenly ruled in, etc.

There is no simple “it was just a mistake” explanation as to why replay assist didn’t buzz down to the refs and get them to at least pick up the face mask penalty on the Giants (even if the Cowboys escaped the flag they deserved).

No Nabers this week, Singletary banged up in Seattle. Not expecting a win at all, rarely do anymore with this team. Sometimes thats when they will win though. Think Green Bay last year.

Grey looked to cross the line. I don’t get it. CBS sucks, they showed one replay of it.

Tracy doing well as next man up. OL giving Jones time.

And the Mets promptly give up the lead.
Now can't even throw home.

Same thing happened yesterday with Rutgers/Mets.
Why can't two teams win on the day??

On the road, against a really good team, in a hostile environment, no Nabers, no Singletary…..

Of course the Giants win the week I pick Seattle in my knockout pool.

Game should have never been that close. I said in my post yesterday somehow the Giants find a ways to win these games that no one expects them too.

Daniel Jones played pretty good.
The G-Men showed a good pass rush today too.

Cincinnati (1-4) opens as visiting 3 1/2-point favorites v Giants next Sunday night. !!!
I may have missed the thread but how did you make out with the storm? My nephew lives in Asheville but his house is fine. He is staying at his parents house in SC for now since he had no water.

Giants may be not as bad as advertised. The losses to Minny and Washington don't look so bad now the way those teams are playing.
Many including myself were also influenced by how bad Jones was in Game 1. Since then hes been OK

As has the Oline the skill positions and Sexy is an absolute load on D.

Jones is routinely running upright into defenders like he thinks he's Derrick Henry.
Clock is ticking

Yeah I said that yesterday. He needs to be in a better position for taking contact. He does run with heart though no one can question that. Hopefully they build on yesterday’s performance

Eli used to imitate a pool noodle upon contact. He looked like an Elmer doing it but I think going slack helped him avoid injuries. Looking back its pretty amazing how he was ready for every game for many years in a row. Jones looks much better than week 1 but he still reminds me of a pack of hamburger meat with a "Sell By" date.

Thanks for the thought. All's well. But still no power for us and three other homes served off of a downed power pole, line, and transformer. All the other homes up on the mountain community here in our immediate area have power back. Some damage here and there. Only one major situation: part of a slope above one home migrated into the structure and caused a good amount of damage. That aside, tomorrow we head off the mountain, away from the High Country, spending a few days with friends in Cornelius NC. From there I head up to NJ for an annual get together with the "old" RU gang. We're hiking the Appalachian Trail in MA for a week then going to the UCLA game before returning home, hopefully with power back on.

Nobody wants to give Jones any real credit. He has been much better than OK. Check his stats and QB ratings the last two weeks. Not to mention just like last week dropped balls . Yesterday at least 5 .

I’d probably agree just didn’t want to be too congratulatory for a qb whose team is 2-3 and doesn’t score meny TD’s.

But pretty good or good is probably more accurate then OK.

They also showed a more vocal Jones on the sidelines this week. Fist bumping his line and cheering on the D.

Thats a sign if a guy growing into the role

Good news for the most part and thanks for the update. I was without power for 10 days post Sandy so I know how much that sucks. Hopefully it has not been too hot/cold. Post Sandy was not good here because it got real cold after some early snow.

Take care and enjoy your trips!

He can and has played well.
Its just that for his injury history he shouldn't be acting like a battering ram running the ball.
Discretion is the better virtue there imo.
A QB making 40+ million should complete a season

Nabers out again from a concussion. This will be his second game missed. He was catching some flak in the media for attending a Travis Scott concert the other night. Not sure if your experiencing concussion symptoms a concert is the best place to go?
Kayvon had wrist surgery so he is out a few weeks. They also signed a new punter as I believe Gillian is out.

Giants in prime time = no shot at winning anymore

They are so due?

Nabers at the concert sounds like a terrible idea. Kyrie Irving esh.

But I'll still give him the benefit of the doubt. He probably had the tickets prior. Bad decision but he seems to be approaching the job well otherwise.

Need a big game from Jones. From all sorts of perspectives, including his inability to win in prime time, but moreso, 2-4 is a very difficult hole to dig out of.

He's been playing well, thought I saw him trying to exert himself as a leader last game, let's keep that momentum going, or better yet, build upon it.

Geez Dallas is getting flayed by Lions (currently 37-9).
Everybody seems to whip Dallas but NYGs
