Jim Brown is considered one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. But Rutgers never played Syracuse while Brown played on the varsity from 1954-56. However, Brown was an All-American in two different sports. The June 8, 1957 New York Times reported, “Jim Brown of Syracuse and Jack Daut of Rutgers scored five quick goals between them in about six minutes tonight to start the North on its way to a 14-10 lacrosse victory over the South.” The all star game was held at Johns Hopkins University.
