Nice to see his injury that kept him out of the NCAA is a thing of the past. That is a crazy time for April! Congrats to him! We should have a very solid 4x400.

ATLANTA – Rutgers men’s track and field finished competition Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta. Freshman Izaiah Brown (Amsterdam, N.Y.) produced a school outdoor record in the 400m, while sophomoreChristopher Mirabelli (Lumberton, N.J.) secured his fourth javelin title in as many meets.

Brown flew off the blocks in the 400m with a program-record time of 45.51 to finish first in the event. Currently, the time is the fifth-fastest in the country and the best finish in the event in the Big Ten during the outdoor season. Brown was previously named the Big Ten Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after setting a school indoor record in the same event at the conference championships earlier this year.

Junior Jermaine Griffith (Hamilton, N.J.) also had an impressive run in the 400m, finishing right behind Brown with a time of 45.76 for second place. It marked an outdoor PR for Griffith in the event as the veteran continues to put forth an impressive outdoor campaign.

Love Track and Field. If he can catch a FB why not put him into a critical situation and have Retting throw a bomb to him.

Those are stellar times for any runner. Great for a freshman, and great for teammates. Can't wait to see them run the 4x4 next weekend at Penn!

A couple of things:

- we have a legit shot at a couple of national titles (men and women individual events) this season IF everyone stays healthy and even our 4x400 could make some noise (not winning a title but maybe get us some points this year)

- recruiting appears to be going very, very well. We're starting to keep NJ kids - both men and women as well as track and field events - home and that's a great thing.

Anybody who still thinks we were going to get hurt in recruiting, by being in a "midwestern" conference, may want to start taking a closer look at all of our sports right now. Keeping more and more Jersey kids home fellas (in just about every sport).
