I've been waiting for Thursday, finally college football again. I have no issues with Harbaugh, yea he's a little nutty but he's a great coach. I'll be rooting for Michigan but it's a tall order on the road at Utah. I expect the same smash mouth style we saw at Stanford emerge at Michigan.
Michigan is who Michigan is and me rooting for them in an OOC game which has no bearing on the conference record doesn't make a bit of difference. I want the B10 to do well OOC, it helps getting a team in the playoff. It's our job to find a way to win because they are our competition along with the rest. Miss St/Ole Miss/TCU/Baylor found ways to crack through the "big boys" in their league and we have to as well.
As to the recruiting, these are name brands. Do you think one game or even a bunch of games affects their recruiting. How did Hoke recruit after RichRod? How is Franklin recruiting now? A game or even a lousy season won't make much of an impact on their recruiting. What will help our recruiting is less about these other name programs doing poorly and more about us exceeding our expectations by a lot like TCU/Baylor etc.. I'd guess without looking that their recruiting has taken off due to their performance over the last handful of years.
Also hoping Minnesota can get some revenge against TCU. They really need to control the tempo of that game, I don't expect them to win a shootout with TCU.
People are writing off this year as a rebuild and I think that's very possible but I also think they could get 7 wins or so. They have a pretty decent OOC too with Utah, Oregon State, BYU, UNLV. Minnesota is there as one of their crossovers. On its face it seems like a tall order maybe but I think they can do it.
