As big of a pain in the ass as Texas and ND are, both the SEC (which already jumped at them) and the B1G (which would jump on them in a heartbeat) have had / would have zero issues taking them
It's about who can make the conferences the most money
Not whose feelings get hurt or what school was mean to another (hell, the SEC screwed over Aggie a few years after admitting them by taking Bevo)
As stated previously, the AAU angle, though definitely preferred (you can't be WVU or Louisville and try getting into the B1G), is not a deal breaker, especially if you're en route to admission
Also, UVA, though a fantastic school, isn't in the Top 3 (it's ND, UNC, and FSU, presumedly in that order)
Miami, though great history, also isn't ranked above FSU in terms of desirability
GOR has been reportedly shortened to 2031, so, if all things being reported are accurate, I'd assume they'd be looking to make noise / leave around ~2028/2029
I have not seen anyone say that the GOR has been shortened to 2031. Otherwise the contract would only be extended through 2031, not 2036.
What i have heard is that the ACC and FSU/Clemson are chatting about reducing the GOR payouts as of 2031. so if they had to pay 500M Today.... 250M in 2031, that 250M would maybe be 125M in 2031. but in 2030, it would still be 300M plus the exit fee.
so they might start making noise in 2028-29, but it would be to leave 2031 anyway unless they want to fork over the money. but hey they would get out for 250M today so maybe they would pay that in 2030 if the B10 wants to include them in their new contract.
That's what I meant, buyout $$ not actual GOR (GOR option was actually picked up as my understanding is they had until 2/1 to do so and extend it and cable contract from 2027 to 2036, another 9 years)
The GOR wasn't picked. Meaning, it can't be picked up, given that it's an interal contract between the schools and the conference.

The gor has not been shortened. The ACC is going to talk with Clemson and Florida State about possibly reducing the buyout after 2031, but those negotiations have not even been completed yet.
The payment has not been reduced though. The conference and Clemson/Florida St are going to discuss it, but that hasn't happened yet.
There also was not an option on the GOR. the only option was on the TV contract with ESPN.
