Since this is a college football board, one might think the reference was to a college football poll.Translator?
btw- did Lindor climb a few notches after his post season? :)Same
I was good after he worked out that walk in game 3 against MIL, but the grand slam didn’t hurtbtw- did Lindor climb a few notches after his post season? :)
This kid may be more important than Soto.Sasaki is indeed coming over.
I put our odds at 1%. LAD, SD, and maybe Seattle. This kid may be more important than Soto.
You pay him almost nothing. It is like having a free superstar on the team.
And the sell really has to be if he wants to be the top Japanese player in NY or the 3rd guy in LA.
The problem is you HAVE to pay Sasaki almost nothing. Cohen's money isn't any good here. This kid may be more important than Soto.

The off field money is what you need to sell the kid on. But I do think LA is where he ends up.I put our odds at 1%. LAD, SD, and maybe Seattle.
Praying the Red Sox get him. As I've said a couple of times, I'd rather get 3 very good players than this horrible and lazy RF. Who at age 26, can only imagine after he collects on this huge contract. He will hit for high average and 35-40 HR's but I don't think this warrants a crazy salary structure demise.Soto meeting with the Blue Jays first followed by the Red Sox, Mets, and Yankees. Dodgers and Giants trying to set up time as well. I'd think more teams to follow after them.
There are so many fans that dislike him so much but he may be about as steady of a player as we have had play the outfield.Strawberry should have gotten it in '88. Interesting fact: McReynolds came in third. He was an interesting player.
I would be ok to get Soto if it didn't mean that the Met's would stop there.Praying the Red Sox get him. Where's the upgrade to the offense in that list of players?I would be ok to get Soto if it didn't mean that the Met's would stop there.
But would rather sign Pete, Burnes, Sasaki, Manaea and bullpen arms
What is the upgrade if they don't sign Pete and or Soto?Where's the upgrade to the offense in that list of players?
I think Sasaki is a long shot, but Burnes and Manaea are realistic. What is the upgrade if they don't sign Pete and or Soto?
There isnt a ton of offense in the FA market right now. But give me Burnes, Senga, Manaea, Sasaki, Peterson as starters and arms to go with Diaz. The a lineup that has Lindor, Pete, Vientos, Nimmo, Avarez and even McNeil...isn't a bad place to start. Maybe make a trade using McNeil and Baty or something like that.
Give kids like Mauricio, Acuna etc a chance
Nothing is perfect but looking at FA's- it is loaded with starting pitching
Exactly how I feel. I would love to see a cross town meltdown if the Red Sox got him though, lolI would be ok to get Soto if it didn't mean that the Met's would stop there.

Which brings up a trivia question:Kinda OT - Travis d'Arnaud signs with Angels. Two years, $12M.
Lindor not meeting Soto. He was in LA for something else.Lindor wins the Silver Slugger Award, 2nd straight year.
Also rumor is that Lindor is meeting with Soto.
Smart plan, let someone else wonder why they signed Stanton 2.0I am ok with Soto if the Met's get the starters we need. But- the real question would be- what do we do at the corners?
Sign Soto and Pete? Or sign Soto and let Pete go- Soto will be fulltime DH before the age of 30.
Vientos is just learning 3B so, do we go out and try a 1B? Do we get a 3B and move Vientos over?
Mauricio could play 3B but not 1B. Acuna? Seems to be a guy for 2B here- but, what do you do with McNeil?
To me- the real simple answer is over pay Pete per year but not go more than 6 years. Stay away from Soto and go after the arms.
Staton may be a liability in the field but his bat would help the Mets in a big way.Smart plan, let someone else wonder why they signed Stanton 2.0
for 75-90 games a year and then what do you do when the only player on the team that wouldnt get slowed up by him is Alvarez. And Alvarez may even be better on the bases.Staton may be a liability in the field but his bat would help the Mets in a big way.
I'm looking at it from the point of lengthening the lineup. Uncle Steve can deal with paying Soto and Pete to make an even more dangerous lineup. Then go get quality pitching. I'll be damn that the Dodgers are the only team that can spend for a championship. 😁for 75-90 games a year and then what do you do when the only player on the team that wouldnt get slowed up by him is Alvarez. No, my clue was incorrect which is why I deleted it.Worm if it's who I'm thinking that guy never hit HR's as a Met. You're saying he hit 3 HRs in a game as a Met?
DendekkerWhich brings up a trivia question:
The 2014 Mets had three players whose last name begins with lower case "d". Probably an MLB record, although I couldn't swear to it.
I just gave you one of them. You know the second guy. He won Rookie of the Year that year, on his way to two Cy Youngs.
CAN YOU NAME THE THIRD?
Hint available on request.
Yes. But it's den Dekker. The capitalization is critical in this instance. BTW, he is still in the Mets organization as a minor league instructor.Dendekker
