Storm shifted at least 25-40 miles NORTH ... meaning NYC is right smack in the middle of the heaviest storm band. Reporting now getting 2" an hour in NYC.

Current National Weather Service reports says total accumulation of 18" to 24 in NYC zone. Its noon report of yesterday estimated 4" to 6" total accumulation ... but just a small shift meant a HUGE increase in snow for NYC... and that is what happened.

It is REALLY snowing out there (looked out my window on the West Side Highway.

Do not drive unless an emergency!

I hope that is a joke?

I live in NYC, that is why. I cannot speak for NJ weather conditions, though I can see Jersey City from my window.

Much of the same condition in the parts of NJ directly West and slightly Southwest of NYC, especially the Eastern portions of Central to North Jersey, I would expect.

The link can be used to look up other zones, also.

I live downtown near Fulton street, and yeah its really coming down. Much more than I expected

Yea well I want to find the This Storm Officially Sucks thread. Because I just walked outside and I have 18" easily already in Howell. So NY can go F themselves. I had to shovel paths out to all the animals and it sucks. My Great Pyrenees dogs who stand 32" Ht. have to hop through the snow to get around. Hell they didn't even have to squat to sh*t they just went on top of the snow. We must be in some type of your F*ucked pocket of snow, don't know how the rest of the state is but I'm screwed.

That does suck ... fortunately, I do not need to shovel, or drive anywhere (advantage of being in NYC).

My wife did walk the dog an hour ago - 7"-8" only, so far ... NWS says now we are heading to 18" plus. My dog is smaller, so 18" with drifts gives him some problems with doing his business .. but I also have to say he LOVES jumping and playing in the snow. We trimmed him yesterday to try to limit the snow/ice clots on his paws and belly. It did not work, unfortunately. We probably would have had to shave him totally ... but then he would have been cold.

And as always a usual idiot shows up with a dumb comment. Wakeup goru1869 as we are all on this together and some folks are in situations where they have to travel whether they be in NJ, NY or elsewhere. Many folks here are employed in hospitals, emergency services, transportation, utility companies etc and are needed at work. Koleszar I hope you are kidding about the dogs because you always could have brought them in the house or garage (if attached) beforehand. LOL.

[laughing] I have two snow hairballs right now defrosting in the garage. The Pyrenees have a double coat they love the snow and want to stay out all day. We're prepared got them bones to keep them busy till they defrost. Then fire up the John Deere front loader tomorrow, I just hate all the work I'm looking at. I have quite a few acres and animals and they have to get out tomorrow.

My white collie managed to do her business in deep snow, and I haven't shoveled yet.

She likes to blend in, though.

It lightened up a good bit uptown since this morning. When I woke up I could only see 2 blocks now I can see about 5.

Our 3 month old black cockapoo is seeing snow for the first time today. He doesn't like it and this Is really not helping with the house training......

Dude we own nyc, of course we care.

On a serious note, many of us live and work in the city. And the other thread has maps that don't show where I live. This thread is good by me.

Who is the BABE on Fox 5 acting as anchor for today's coverage? Holy smokes. Anyone know?

I snow blow a big figure 8 in front and back yard for my dog. He's spoiled lol
I did the same thing for our ducks and chickens. I made them a little race track around each of their pens. I was getting a kick out of watching them go around it, until my wife saw what I did.:flushed:

Relax Francis. 90% of the updates are for middle to south jersey and I'm up in north jersey and you don't see me complaining. He's just sharing info.

We are NYC's school we need this thread :cool2:

Seriously though I live in JC so it's the same here..

Despite hizzoner saying that anybody on the road past 2:30 will be arrested there is still a pretty steady stream of traffic heading north on Third Ave.

Here is another good link, with "blog" updates: http://www.nycareaweather.com/2016/01/jan-23-2016-blizzard-updates/

Latest reports show 20" at Laguardia and JFK airports as of 4 PM, and 15" in Central Park as of 1 PM - but it is snowing at perhaps 2" per hour in NYC, so it is implied Central Park may have 20".

I was just outside with the dog ... I can assure you it is REALLY snowing hard (this at 4 PM or so). And NJ West and slightly Southwest of NYC has it worse.

One video of my dog out on the West Side Highway at 3:45 PM:

Another video of my dog, same walk:

Peace and be safe.

By the way, while walking the dog, we saw just 2 cars in 30 minutes on the West Side Highway ... smart of most people, stupid of those people. NYC has banned cars form the street by 2:30 PM today ... and appropriately so, given the conditions I saw.
