Alderson and Scott will put on a brave face as if they hit a home run. It would have been if it was just Baez, but Williams coming along took some luster off the trade.

Wait what? So you would have been fine with Crow-Armstrong for Baez straight up... but ADDING a throw-in makes it a deal killer?
I will be at tomorrow’s game so I hope Baez will play tomorrow. Thank goodness no more Guiilorme and Villar starting every day. Unsustainable. Good backups but not starters.
I think Williams (who I admit I know nothing about) could slot into long relief once deGrom comes back. Have to figure that deGrom as well as Carrasco will not be providing much length. Best case scenario for Carrasco is that he can go 5 innings if pitching well. Hill is another 5-6 inning guy. Otherwise I think Williams is insurance against another deGrom setback.
Nope and before you jump down my throat, here's why I said what I said. Williams is another dumpster dive. The Mets have had no success going this route. Why are we revisiting this method? Chicago is in complete rebuild mode, and the Mets could push something better to go along with Baez. Williams adds nothing to the team, and he's taking a spot on the 40 man roster.

I think you're right, but in the end, if the Mets need Hill or Williams at the same time, they are in trouble.
Did Mets do enough at deadline? I don’t believe so. Got a big bat which is a need / a SS in Lindor absence in Baez but did not address bullpen which was needed. Many reliable arms were traded and having guys like drew Smith and yenci Diaz in bullpen is not good.

Correction. It was Dom Smith and Mauricio. Maybe if it was just Mauricio with his path to the big leagues blocked with us.
Baseball Night in NY on SNY discussed when Lindor comes back, Baez will move to 2B. McNeil could replace JD at 3B or Dom in LF. Why isn't Conforto considered as the player to be replaced? This team needs offense in the worst way. Conforto should be a role player for the rest of the season. It's not personal, but this may be the best route to winning if the Mets want to win.
Valid point. But who would play RF? Would be difficult for Davis or Smith. Pillar can play RF against lefties. I would do that. Or maybe McNeil to RF?
Thought the Mets should’ve gotten a pitcher. But Baez sure does strengthen up the middle of that infield big time. And he will wake up the clubhouse. Should be interesting.
Infuriating that they knew DeGrom had a setback and didn’t find a way to get another starting pitcher. No I do not count Trevor Williams.
I'm starting to think we've seen the last of deGrom this year.
Inexcusable that front office did not acquire another back end SP and or durable relievers especially knowing the degrom situation.

McNeil has some experience in RF, but enough of Conforto and Villar batting too high in the lineup. Take about rally-killers.
