Imagine trying to hit Jacob with the shadows. Diaz has been fine in save chances. Seems to have problems in games where Mets are losing and they want him to get work.

17 Rockies Ks in 7 innjngs

In all fairness, he struck out .190, .120, and .174 in the ninth (hard to believe that’s all the Rockies had). I’m happier that he didn’t walk any of them more than I am that he struck them all out.
Told my son the exact same thing! I said if he walks the leadoff guy, I'm going to flip. Challenge the hitters, those BB, always come back to kill you.

Lucchessi making the early bid to be this year’s Wacha/Porcello. More dumpster diving.

I’m assuming we now know who to replace in the rotation when Thor and/or Carrasco comes back from injury?

Villar misplay cost 2 runs
Ball hit right at him was scored a hit

klutch
Konforto 1st and second no outs !

Inning was over , f the shift
Instead of 3-2 going to 6th after inning ending double play
It’s 7-2

Every year there seens to be that bum in the bullpen who every time they come in the game it ends in disaster. So far this season its that guy Barnes. Another team's castoff who made the team because he happened to have a good spring. But then the games that count start and oooof, you see why he was dumped by another team.

After facing deGroms 101 mph fastballs, the Rockies must have felt they were hitting off a T facing Lucchesi, lol

Usually, that is why I like Stroman after deGrom. Suck a completely different type of pitcher.

But back to deGrom- is anyone else just amazed that a pitcher can actually have a 92 mph "changeup" that moves like crazy.

When you think about how in the recent past, a HS kid throwing mid 80's was someone that got on MLB scouts radar, and now, they won't waste their time unless you crack 90's. To throw a 90+ changeup is just insane.

You have some legit HOF pitchers from not even too long ago whos fastballs only reached the speed of deGrom's changeup. I don't think Maddox or Glavin were ever throwing harder than 92 mph in their prime.

When you think about it that way, it really does boggle the mind.

In response to the increase in pitcher velocity, MLB has directed the Atlantic League to experiment with moving the pitching rubber back one foot, to 61 feet 6 inches. Ron Darling estimates that this will cause pitches to appear two miles per hour slower. From 100 down to 98 is still pretty quick though.

But just as pitchers are throwing harder, batters are swinging harder and have all the tech in the world to help. We put it back to 61 ft and we will have those 70 HR seasons again
Let the pitchers pitch and maybe hitters will adjust back to making contact.

Manfred is a pure idiot. Leave the mound alone and fire all the analytic idiots and get baseball people who believe in making contact and play the bases again.

See, you jinxed him. I did my part to counter the jinx.😉
But others would actually would mean it.

Pitching into the 8th with the bottom of the order coming up.

Can’t believe I’m saying this but here’s hoping for the Diaz Trumpets in the 9th.
