What a great day of watching baseball. A great Mets win that wouldn't have happened last season, starting with the slap tag by Lindor on a cannon throw by McCann. Even from the home plate camera and where the runner is before McCann's release, it doesn't look like there's a snowballs chance of McCann throwing Story out.

Let’s not forget the Stro backed stop and 5 bouncer to Pete! Yes its early and we have won in April before. With that said this team seems to enjoy playing with each other. Linder has brought so much energy to the clubhouse

Did you notice Lindor's last at bat? I'm waiting on some type of hand injury to be announced tomorrow. Sort of a Rutgers Screw, though I'm praying NOT!!!

Random, odd and worthless team statistics observations of last place teams:

1. Nationals - highest batting average at .273 (pitching kills them)
2. Cubs- third in NL with 20 home runs
3. Tigers lead AL in in HRs (thanks to Wilson Ramos).
4. Yankees pitchers lead AL in strikeouts

I am so pissed off. Last year- espn game were viewable on Sling for me- game 2 is on ESPN...I got a couple of beers waiting and some good snacks and the MF’s blacked it out. I guess some of the 8000 decided to leave after game 1.
this is going to leave me in the dark most of the year. SNY is on NBCSP but they require a cable login.
And before asked, we aren’t going back to cable and the wife game me the choice of BTN or SNY...
I changed my Directv package to one that comes with SNY and was then ecstatic that I would be able to watch the games. Only to see that all of the games I've tried to watch thus far have been blacked out. So I'm back to only being able to see nationally televised games or when they play the Braves. Phuk!

Exactly- and for me, even with the ESPN games on Sling, if it is a home game- it is still backed out as well. As I heard people talking somewhere- even if you are willing to pay to see your local teams play...if you don't pay for cable, it is still almost impossible.

I hate all these days off, even the scheduled ones. When their playing great, it's hard to keep the momentum. I know the saying is your only as good as your next day pitcher, but I believe when things are going good, you need to PLAY!!!

Man, things are quiet when all is going well....:)

We have to hit at some point...right?
I think that is why we are so quiet. If we were pitching like this and hitting- we would be pumping our chests. But after all these years, we are always waiting for the shoe to drop.
but man oh man...give us another run through our starters like this...we may start getting loud. We have had two stinkers and 9 dominate starts. The next two with Walker and Peterson will be interesting. I’m happy if both give up 3 or less in these games.
but yeah- need to hit.

The disjointed nature to how the season is playing out doesnt help. Every time we get a win or two there's a postponement or scheduled day off. When they're not playing there's not as much to talk about.

I’m not saying a word until the summer. I’ve learned that all of this is BS until summertime when time starts to run out, usually on Mets fans.

Hell, I started a Mickey Ball hashtag the last time Mets had a good start. Look how that tuned out.

And if “things being quiet here” means what I think it means, please don’t say Candyman three times and the goofballs will show up spewting nonsense here.

Anyway, LGM

Horrible AB by Lindor. You have a wild pitcher. Make him work.

At least we know the offense doesn’t discriminate. They’re impotent for every SP

I expected offense to break out in Colorado. Very disappointing it hasn’t. Maybe Rojas should play all backups 1 game and light a fire 🔥 under those battling the Mendoza line.

Upon further review perhaps I'm better off. I just couldn't stand having to watch such utter futility on a regular basis. So many terrible at-bats. So much missing on or looking at hittable pitches only to then whiff on pitchers pitches once they have you in a 0-2 or 1-2 hole.

Strongly disagree with the first point. Lindor is a professional hitter. No problem with him swinging at the first one he likes. Sometimes the first one is the best one he'll get. What's the point of working the pitcher in that situation? You don't want a walk there. All that does is leave it up to the next guy.

Sometimes the pitcher wins. Actually, most of the time the pitcher wins.

To your second point, it's only 12 games (4 of which were only 7 innings). I was going to say "bad start", but 12 games isn't even a start! It's just the start of the start.

I agree the backups, especially Almora, need a game. But not all in the same game.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in the thread but with the reorganization of the Minor Leagues (and the Toronto AAA team becoming the Trenton Thunder this season) there are more than a few close by options to check out future Mets:

AAA Trenton Thunder will play the Syracuse Mets

AA Somerset Patriots will play Binghamton Rumble Ponies

High A Jersey Shore BlueClaws will play the Brooklyn Cyclones

Strongly disagree with your opinion. When you have a struggling pitcher, make him work. Get the count to 2-0 / 3-1 so a lob fastball is expected and you can drive it etc.
Also right now Lindor is a struggling hitter that I certainly don’t have much confidence in along with the rest of the lineup. I’m sure this will change as the season progresses and weather gets warmer etc but a struggling hitter swinging at the first pitch in a critical moment of the game when Kimbrel has been wild was not the smartest thing to do.
